The Brooklyn Nets will be in action at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon Tuesday night when they take on the Portland Trail Blazers (10:00pm ET).

The Nets beat up on the Washington Wizards 113-106 Sunday after having a six-game winning streak snapped by the Orlando Magic the game before. Meanwhile the Blazers are still searching for their pride after getting demolished 132-92 by the Mavericks in their last game.

The Trail Blazers have owned this series recently winning four of the last five matchups. The latest meeting was a 134-133 thriller won by Portland in the bubble back on August 13, 2020. The latest odds are showing the Trail Blazers as 5-point favorites in this meeting, and there are more than enough props to consider.

Kyrie Irving is out for the Nets three-game road trip and James Harden is being listed as questionable for this game. For that reason, we will explore the Trail Blazers side for player prop bets.

Time to Fire Up CJ McCollum

The Brooklyn Nets are going to look very different tonight if they are going to be missing James Harden as well as Kyrie Irving. When the cats are away, the mice will play – and that is what bettors can expect to happen tonight in Portland. This will be McCollum’s fifth game back from a fractured foot that kept him sidelined for a couple months.

McCollum has been a mixed bag in his first few games since coming back from the foot injury. He hasn’t played more than 27 minutes in any of the four games and went 6-27 shooting in his first two. McCollum finally looked like himself again Friday night against Dallas, when he torched them for 32 points on 11-23 shooting. He dropped a three right in Kristaps Porzingis’ face late in the fourth quarter for a little extra effect.

There are blowout worries in this one as the Nets are bringing a skeleton squad for this one but there is hope they can somewhat keep up even with benchwarmers playing. Over the last three games, no team in the NBA has been worse in terms of defensive efficiency than Portland.

Also, James Harden is only being listed as questionable so there is a chance he plays. If that happens, bettors should have the back and forth type game that will allow each team’s players to see their full compliment of minutes. In either scenario, 19.5 points is a very low bar for a guy like McCollum to get over making that a nice bet tonight.

  • The Pick: CJ McCollum Over 19.5 Points (-116)

Chuck and Duck Time

The Portland Trail Blazers take a ton of three-pointers each game. In fact, only one team in the NBA attempts more on per game basis. Since coming back, McCollum has not seen the volume he enjoyed before the foot injury but he still found time to take 13 threes Friday night against the Mavericks. He is a guy that can get hot at any moment and when he does, watch out.

McCollum’s three-pointers made number seems a little low tonight given the circumstances. In the seven games before his injury he went over that number in every game. In the game before last, he hit seven and he attempted five against the Mavericks in only 24 minutes after being pulled because of the blowout.

Only three teams have been worse defending the three-pointer over the last three games than the Nets. This seems like a good spot to cherry pick a low number with elevated odds.

  • The Pick: CJ McCollum Over  3.5 Three-Pointers Made (+130)
