The Nets are losers of two in a row and got absolutely demolished on Tuesday night by the Sacramento Kings, 153-121. As for Portland, they rallied to beat the rebuilding San Antonio Spurs behind a big performance from Jerami Grant.

Portland is the ATS kings thus far, going 11-3. Brooklyn on the other hand is only 5-9-1 against the spread.

In two meetings last season, both teams won a game apiece.

Nets Need to Find a Rhythm

For a team with title aspirations, this has not been an ideal start for the Nets. They’re sitting in 12th place in the East and the Kyrie Irving drama isn’t exactly helping, plus the firing of Steve Nash. But, Kyrie is expected to be back on Sunday from his suspension, which is a positive.

Kevin Durant, who is at +2500 in 2023 NBA MVP odds, had another solid outing on Tuesday against the Kings, but there was limited help around him. KD dropped 27 points, while Edmond Sumner put up 18. However, Brooklyn was dominated inside, getting outrebounded 43-29 and outscored 66-44 in the paint.

Also, Sacramento shot a blistering 49% from three-point land, much in part to their 39 assists. They picked apart the Nets defense, which has actually proven to be one of their notable strengths this season. Brooklyn desperately needs a victory to finish up this road trip before returning home on the weekend.

Portland Thriving

The Blazers made some intriguing moves in the offseason and they’ve paid off early on. Leading the way is Damian Lillard with nearly 28 points per game, while Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant are also averaging over 20 points per night, giving Portland a solid Big 3.

The trio was firing on all cylinders versus San Antonio. Grant went off for 29. Dame contributed 22 points and dished out 11 dimes. Lastly, Simons added 23. The big difference in this contest was the Blazers’ ability to drain the triple, shooting 47% from long range. The Spurs actually had the advantage inside, but Portland continued to thrive from beyond the arc. Chauncey Billups’ group owns a 39.3 three-point percentage, which is third in the league.

That will be a key factor to victory on Thursday, too. The Nets are allowing opponents to shoot 38.7% from distance, which is bottom-three in the Association. If Portland makes it rain, they have a legitimate chance of winning here.

Nets vs Blazers Prediction

You’re looking at two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum at the moment. Personally, I’m all in with the Blazers right now and the ATS record is too good to ignore. Take Portland to cover and hand the Nets another loss.

Pick: Blazers -1.5 (-110)
