  • There are eight games on the NBA schedule for Saturday, October 23rd
  • One of the night’s biggest matchup has the Grizzlies visiting the Clippers
  • Let’s take a look at the best player prop bets Saturday

Eight games are on tap Saturday night in the NBA, including an interesting matchup between two teams that reached the playoffs last season.

The Memphis Grizzlies visit the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:30pm ET at the Staples Center. The Clippers are favored by 3.5 points.

It will be the second game of the season for both teams. The Grizzlies opened by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-121 on Wednesday night while the Clippers dropped a narrow 115-113 road decision to the Golden State Warriors Thursday night.

Ja Morant had a big opening night performance for the Grizzlies with 37 points and six assists while De’Anthony Melton added 20 points. The Clippers got 29 points from Paul George but that wasn’t enough to overcome Stephen Curry’s 45-point outburst for the Warriors.

Mavs Need Points from Porzingis

The Dallas Mavericks’ offense runs through Luka Doncic and understandably so. He is one of the most explosive scorers in the NBA.

However, they need a reliable second scoring option if they are going to become championship contenders again. First-year coach Jason Kidd believes Kristaps Porzinigis is that guy – if he stays healthy.

Porzingis averaged 20.3 points a game in his first two seasons with the Mavericks in 2019-20 and 2020-21. He also played in just 100 of a possible 147 games.

The 7-foot-3 forward got off to a lackluster start to this season on opening night when he managed just 11 points in just under 29 minutes of work during a blowout loss to the Hawks in Atlanta. He shot 4-of-13 and made only one of 4 three-point attempts.

Look for Porzingis to bounce back against the young Raptors in Toronto after scoring 23 and 21 points in the teams’ two meetings last season.

Pick: Kristaps Porzingis over 18.5 points (-102)

Russell Strong Third Option

D’Angelo Russell is the third scoring option for the Minnesota Timberwolves after Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards.

However, the Timberwolves showed in their opening night victory over the Houston Rockets that there are plenty of shots to go around. Each of the Big Three scored at least 20 points, as Towns finished with 30, Edwards had 29 and Russell added 22.

Limited to 42 games last season because of injuries, Russell averaged 19.0 points a game. However, he had a career-high 23.1 points a game in 2019-20.

The Timberwolves should score often against the Pelicans. New Orleans has allowed an average of 122.5 points in its first two games and is 28th among the 30 NBA teams in defensive rating.

Russell appears to set for a big game.

Pick: D’Angelo Russell over 18.5 points (-106)
