The Brooklyn Nets (9-11, 4-4 home) will be looking to bounce back from a very poor defensive performance when they play host to the Portland Trail Blazers (11-7, 7-4 away) on Sunday afternoon at the Barclays Center.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3 pm ET on the YES Network and ROOT Sports NW.

Portland was over at Madison Square Garden on Friday, beating the New York Knicks 132-129 in overtime thanks to a career-high 44 points from Jerami Grant. The Nets meanwhile lost to the Indiana Pacers, their second defeat in the last three games.

These two teams already met on November 17th, with Brooklyn winning 109-107.

Blazers Dealing With Damian Lillard Injury

Portland has a solid core intact with Damian Lillard, Jerami Grant, Jusuf Nurkic, and Anfernee Simons, among other role players. But, Dame has already dealt with multiple injuries in 2022-23 and is sidelined again.

Since his last appearance on November 19th, the Blazers are just 1-2, but did put together a very solid showing at The Garden.

While Chauncey Billups’ squad didn’t exactly shoot the ball all that well against the Knicks, their two stars stepped up. Grant and Simons combined for a whopping 82 points, with the latter going off for 38. Plus, Jusuf Nurkic also added 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

In a nutshell, the trio basically carried the load offensively. This was a big win that should give Portland some confidence.

From a betting standpoint, there is reason for optimism here. The Blazers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games. The Nets are far from consistent and the last meeting was just a two-point outcome, too.

Brooklyn Nets Not Looking Like a Contender

Kyrie Irving is back, yet the Nets actually look worse. They’re all the way down in 10th place in the East and just got outplayed by a Pacers team that is supposedly rebuilding.

Despite a 36-point eruption from Kevin Durant, Indiana made Brooklyn’s defense look foolish, with three of their five starters finishing with at least 20 points.

The Nets also allowed their opponents to shoot 50% from the field and their 18 turnovers proved to be costly as Indy translated them into a whole 21 points. On a more positive note, Kyrie had 20 points and Ben Simmons collected 20 as well, going a perfect 8 for 8 from the field.

The Aussie seems to be finding his footing once again after a long lay-off, which is going to be huge for this team moving forward.

Betting-wise, Brooklyn is only 2-5 ATS in their previous seven games at the Barclays Center against Portland and have an ATS record of 8-11 overall this season. They’re also a disappointing 5-7 as a favorite, too.

Blazers vs Nets Prediction

I really like how Portland played at MSG and their 10-3-1 ATS underdog record is the one to focus on here. 6.5 points is too much for a Nets team that is so unpredictable. Take the Blazers.

Pick: Blazers +6.5 (-115)
