Rockets Rolling After Big Win Over Bucks

The Rockets have definitely had their fair share of doubters this season, but they’ve looked very good since the restart. Mike D’Antoni’s team beat a strong Dallas Mavericks squad in OT on Friday behind James Harden’s 49 points and Russell Westbrook’s 31.

Then, on Sunday evening, Houston outlasted the NBA-best Bucks, winning 120-116 after being down by eight points heading into the remaining three minutes of the fourth quarter.

This time, it was Westbrook leading the way, pouring in 31 points for the second-straight contest. Their entire starting five recorded double-digits in scoring, which proved to be enough to beat Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 36 points and 18 rebounds.

The Rockets have already clinched their spot in the postseason as they sit in fourth, but just three games separate them and the second-place LA Clippers. They’re also just a game and a half back of the Denver Nuggets, who’ve had their issues since the resumption of play.

Houston definitely has a shot at grabbing the three seed if they continue to win basketball games, but that’s depending on how Denver plays as well. Three of their remaining six games are against the Lakers, Clippers, and Raptors, while the Rockets’ three toughest contests left are against the Lakeshow, Pacers, and Sixers.

Unfortunately for Houston, they have struggled against Damian Lillard and co. this season. They beat them by 24 in November but then lost the next two meetings by 10 then 13 points.

Blazers in Hot Pursuit of Playoff Spot

Every game matters right now for Terry Stotts’ squad as they desperately hunt for the ninth seed at the very least so they can be apart of the play-in series for the final playoff spot in the West. They got off to a solid start in game 1, beating the Memphis Grizzlies in OT thanks to some clutch shots down the stretch from veteran Carmelo Anthony. 29 and 33-point efforts from Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, respectively, also proved to be crucial in a huge win.

Then on Sunday, they took on the Boston Celtics, losing 128-124. Jusuf Nurkic and Lillard both dropped 30, but it wasn’t enough as Jayson Tatum returned to his All-Star ways, scoring 34 for the C’s. On a positive note though, the Blazers fought hard to come back from a 24-point deficit, opening the final quarter on a 15-4 run. Dame has looked electric in every way possible, dishing out a ridiculous 16 assists in the loss to Boston.

Although they’re still conceding more points than they’d like, Portland has looked impressive offensively. It’s been a huge help with Nurkic back in action as well after suffering a brutal left injury last May. However, It’s going to be a difficult end to the season, with all six of their remaining contests against teams who are in a postseason spot.

Best Bet

Although Houston is hot right now, I like the Blazers in this game. They’ve had a lot of success against the Rockets this season and I believe they will continue their winning streak against them with a big victory on Tuesday. Lillard, McCollum, Nurkic, and Anthony are all playing really well right now and after suffering a tough loss to Boston, Portland will be looking to bounce back. It’s going to be a high-scoring contest that comes down to the wire, but the Blazers will come out victorious.

Pick: Blazers ML (+155)
