It’s been a brutal road trip for the San Antonio Spurs.

After dropping their first three games in a five-game trek, they wrap it up with a tough back-to-back in LA, beginning Saturday night against the Clippers.

They’ll be taking on a Clippers side that finally has Kawhi Leonard back, with the hopes of moving on up the West ladder.

It all gets underway from cypto.com Arena at 10:30pm ET, in a game that can be seen live on NBA League Pass.

San Antonio Betting Outlook

It looks like the fun times from a 4-2 start are a distant memory, as the Spurs have won just two of their last 10, and have lost five straight away from home.

The latest was a 130-112 whipping at the hands of the Sacramento Kings, the second time in the last three games they’ve surrendered 130 or more points.

Devin Vassell had 29 points, three rebounds and three assists to lead the Spurs, while Tre Jones had 15 points and four assists. San Antonio shot the ball at a 54.8% clip for the game, but they allowed the Kings to shot 57.8%.

San Antonio is the worst defensive team in the league, surrendering 120.2 points per game. They allow teams to shoot 50.2% from the field and 39.3% from deep, both dead-last in the NBA.

They’re also pretty dinged up going into Saturday. Team scoring leader Keldon Johnson (ankle), missed the loss to SacTo, but he is listed as probable vs LA, as is Doug McDermott (calf).

Vassell is questionable with left ankle soreness, and big man Jakob Poeltl is dealing with a knee issue that has him also questionable.

Los Angeles Betting Outlook

After sitting 12 straight games dealing with issues from a surgically repaired knee, Kawhi Leonard’s modest 6-point, 5-rebound, 4-assist night on 24 minutes of play was more than a welcomed sight for the Clippers.

A team that’s been struggling to get up to speed with the West may finally have the band together that was expected to contend for a title.

LA dumped the Detroit Pistons 96-91, bouncing back from a loss to the Mavericks last time out. Reggie Jackson had 23 points, three rebounds and three assists to lead the team in scoring, while Ivaca Zubac grabbed 18 boards to go along with nine points.

Paul George, who did much of the heavy lifting with Kawhi away, had 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

As polar opposite from the Spurs as they can get statistically, Los Angeles boasts the top scoring defense in the league, holding teams to 105.9 points per game. They limit teams to 44.4% from the field (2nd) and 34.2% from three (7th).

That’s been the key to helping them stay above .500, as the Clips are the lowest-scoring team in the NBA, scoring just 104.4 points per game.

Spurs vs Clippers Prediction

This is a legitimately good LA defense: over the last 10 games, they’ve held teams to 106 points or less nine times.

San Antonio is 15th in scoring, but a closer look over their last 10 paints a different picture. They are putting up 107.3 points a contest, which would rank next-to-last, ahead of only the Clippers. They’re also scoring less on the road, at 104.5.

The under has gone 5-0 in the last five head-to-head meetings between the teams, while Clippers games have hit the under in seven of their last eight home games.

As of this writing, no total has been put on the game, so wait as close to tip off to find a total. If it gets anywhere near LA’s last game figure of 215.5 vs the Pistons, jump on it.

For now though, we’ll bank on San Antonio’s sparkling record on one day’s rest. The Spurs are 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games with the day break. I don’t see them winning, but I don’t see the Clips blowing them out, either.
