The Golden State Warriors (14-14, 2-12 away) continue a lengthy six-game road trip on Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers (14-14, 8-6 home) at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. It’s the second meeting of the campaign between the two teams, with Indy beating the Dubs on December 5th by eight points.

Golden State is coming off a very disappointing loss to the Milwaukee Bucks where they were held to 111 points. The Pacers meanwhile have lost two in a row and most recently fell to the Miami Heat on Monday by a low score of 87-82.

Pacers in a Slump

Many believed Indiana would be towards the bottom of the East but they’ve actually played decent, sitting at .500. Tyrese Haliburton is emerging as the franchise star, while the likes of rookie Bennedict Mathurin, Buddy Hield, and Myles Turner are all making their presence felt. However, the Pacers are in bad shape at the moment, winning just three of their last 10 games.

On Monday, the offense really struggled to get going against the Heat, who are well-known for their defense. Haliburton was atrocious in this one, scoring just one point in 32 minutes of action. That alone was a sign that Indiana had no chance of winning. Four scorers finished in double-figures, with Hield’s 19 leading the way.

Shooting the ball efficiently proved to be a problem. The Pacers drained a mere 35% of their field goals and only shot 28% from three-point land, too. Overall, this was just a game that Rick Carlisle’s team will want to forget ASAP. Expect Haliburton to come out with a little more fire here after his worst performance of the campaign. After already taking down the Dubs last week as well in their own house, Indy should have some confidence.

Warriors Need to Find Consistency

Considering Golden State is the defending champions, this has not been an ideal start to the campaign for them. It’s clear they’re is a serious difference between their play at home as opposed to on the road, too. At the Chase Center, the Dubs are 12-2. Away from the Bay Area? A brutal 2-12. Needless to say, these next four games on the East Coast are a serious test for Steve Kerr’s squad.

Unfortunately, the Warriors rolled into Fiserv Forum Tuesday and were destroyed by the Bucks, who are one of the clear-cut title favorites at the moment. Losing by 17 points is by no means ideal and although Steve Kerr’s group shot 40% from downtown, Milwaukee killed them inside.

The Dubs were outrebounded 55-37 on the glass and outscored 48-30 in the paint. Milwaukee actually coughed it up 20 times but Golden State didn’t capitalize enough. Steph Curry dropped 20 points, while Jonathan Kuminga had 19 off the bench. It’ll be a quick turnaround for the Warriors here.

Warriors vs Pacers Prediction

I have zero faith in the Dubs on the road. Indiana is also 15-13 ATS and tends to play well at home. I’m liking them against the spread.

Pick: Pacers +1.5 (-108)
