The Golden State Warriors (8-9, 1-8 away) finish up a quick two-game road trip out in NOLA on Monday night against the New Orleans Pelicans (9-7, 5-3 home) at the Smoothie King Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 8 PM ET.  Star Zion Williamson is in line to play here after missing the last three contests due to a foot injury. Keep reading for the Warriors vs Pelicans prediction.

The Dubs captured a tough victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday in the front end of a back-to-back, moving them a step closer to .500 basketball. The Pels on the other hand, lost to the Boston Celtics Friday, 117-109. This is their final home game before hitting the road for a pair of matchups against the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies.

Are Dubs Finally Turning It Around?

Considering they’re the defending champions, the Warriors have not looked great to begin 2022-23. Steve Kerr’s squad is just 8-9 which is outside the top-10 in the West. But, Golden State has now won two in a row, which is a very positive sign.

In fact, the win against Houston was their first on the road of the campaign, previously going a putrid 0-8 away from the Chase Center. Klay Thompson really found his stroke down in Texas, erupting for a game-high 41 points while going an impressive 10 for 13 from downtown. Steph Curry also dropped 33 and dished out a mind-boggling 15 assists.

The Dubs did a great job of flourishing from deep. The ball movement was fantastic, compiling 38 dimes. That resulted in a 51% clip from long range. And to see Klay play like the Klay of the past is huge for the squad. Golden State could be finally finding its footing.

Pelicans Getting Zion Boost

New Orleans is one of the dark horses in the West but they’ve already had to play without Zion for five games this season because of minor ailments. With that being said, Williamson is probable for this clash, which comes at the perfect time.

The Pels are flourishing on both ends of the floor but especially offensively, ranking sixth in PPG and top-five in field goal and three-point percentage. Zion and Brandon Ingram are both averaging over 20 points per night, while CJ McCollum is putting up 18.5. He’s yet to get going and once the veteran does, New Orleans will be even better.

The story of Friday’s defeat to the Celtics was their inability to stop Boston from making it rain from distance. The visitors shot 44% from beyond the arc, which ultimately made the difference. On a more positive note, Willie Green’s team had six scorers in double-figures, led by Ingram’s 25 points.

Warriors vs Pelicans Prediction

Golden State is finding a rhythm as of late, which is why I see serious value in the +4.5. While they’re just 1-7 ATS in their last eight, it’s worth a bet. This will be a close outcome, whether the Dubs win outright or lose by a couple of points to the Pelicans. Expect a battle.

Pick: Warriors +4.5 (-110)
