Colorado (14-5, 8-4 Pac-12) and Oregon State (10-7, 6-5 Pac-12) were originally scheduled to meet in Boulder on Jan. 9, but that game was postponed because of Covid issues in the Oregon State program.
The shoe-horning of this game into the conference schedule means that, starting with victories for each last Saturday, Colorado will play four games in eight days and Oregon State will play four in nine.

This is the final game of Colorado’s four-game homestand, a homestand that was shortened from five when the Arizona State game last week was postponed due to Covid. The Buffaloes are a 12.5-point favorite in this matchup, in a game that features a total of 138.5.
Colorado and Its Two Troubling Recent Trends
Colorado, which has a -3.8 rebound margin this season, has been out-rebounded in each of its last four games, and has failed to hold big leads in its last two. The Buffs could not hold a 19-point advantage in a 77-74 home loss to Utah on Jan. 30, being outscored 31-9 in the final nine minutes. They lost all of a 17-point lead against Arizona before recovering in an 82-79 victory Saturday.
Buffaloes’ 6-8 freshman forward Jabari Walker did not play against Arizona because of a left foot injury that will keep him sidelined “at least another couple of weeks,” Colorado coach Tad Boyle said after the game. “I don’t think it’s season ending.” Walker is averaging 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds (third on the team) while shooting 54 percent from the field.

Colorado junior center Evan Battey suffered a left ankle injury when his leg bent awkwardly as he was fouled with 15.3 seconds remaining in the Arizona game. Battey was visibly limping, and in tears, as he made the two free throws that gave the Buffaloes’ their final margin. The injury is not considered serious, but the quick turnaround time makes it worth checking.
Oregon State 6-7 forward Warith Alatishe, a transfer from Nicholls State, is averaging 8.9 points and 8.3 rebounds. He is second in the league in rebounding and has seven 10-rebound games.

Oregon State has won five of its last seven, including back-to-back upset victories over USC at home and Oregon on the road. The Beavers are 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven after pushing in a 68-66 victory over Washington State on Saturday. They are 7-4-1 against the number in conference play.

Free Throw Shooters on Both Teams Are Hard to Rattle
