Air Force Betting Outlook

It was a bad all-around night for Air Force on Monday in its loss at San Jose State.

The Falcons allowed a season-high 82 points as the Spartans shot 57.6% (34 of 59) from the floor. San Jose went 19 for 28 (67.9%) in the second half, turning a 46-31 halftime lead into a blowout.

Meanwhile, Air Force was just 19 of 49 (38.8%) overall and 4 of 22 (18.2%) on three-point attempts. The Falcons also got outrebounded 37-21. While Air Force committed just seven turnovers, San Jose State had only five.

Senior guard Camden Vander Zwaag was the lone Air Force player to score in double figures as he had 11 points in 19 minutes off the bench.

Sophomore guard Jake Heidbreder, Air Force’s leading scorer with a 14.3 point-a-game average, was held to nine points. He took just seven shots, making four.

Heidbreder is the only Falcon scoring in double figures.

Freshman forward Corbin Greene is second in the MWC with 1.9 blocked shots a game.

Air Force is 10th in Division I in three-point percentage allowed (28.4).

New Mexico Betting Outlook

Junior guard Jamal Mashburn Jr. scored a career-high 33 points Monday, but it couldn’t keep New Mexico from losing at Nevada.

Mashburn leads the Lobos in scoring with 19.3 points a game, which also tops the Mountain West. He has scored at least 20 points in five straight games and nine times this season.

Dating to last season, Mashburn has scored in double figures in 42 consecutive games. That is the second-longest streak in Division I after 130 by Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis.

Senior guard Jaelen House is stuffing the stat sheet, averaging 17.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.7 steals. He leads the conference in steals and is third in scoring and assists.

Against Nevada, House had his first double-double of the season. He finished with 17 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.

Senior forward Morris Udeze’s 8.5 rebounding average tops the conference leader board, and he is also scoring 15.7 points a game. The Wichita State transfer went for 16 points and 10 rebounds Monday, giving him eight double-doubles this season and five in the last six games.

Senior forward Josiah Allick is second in the MWC in rebounding at 8.3.

New Mexico is 14th in the nation in scoring (82.5) and 15th in field goal shooting (48.9%). The Lobos shot 54% (34 of 63) against Nevada and made 8 of 18 (44.4%) attempts from long distance but had 19 turnovers.

Like Air Force, New Mexico guards the perimeter well as it is 33rd in three-point defense (29.9%).

Air Force vs New Mexico Prediction

New Mexico swept a pair of games from Air Force last season, including 69-65 at The Pit when Mashburn scored 24 points. Despite coming off a grueling road loss, look for New Mexico to get back on track against a struggling Air Force defense.

Pick: New Mexico -12.5 (-106)

Season record: 21-17 (+2.3 units) ATS, 1-6 (-4.5 units) ML
