Folks are accustomed to seeing the Alabama Crimson Tide (21-3, 15-9 ATS) steamrolling the SEC, but as they arrive to face their arch-rivals the Auburn Tigers (17-7, 12-12 ATS), this isn’t the way the Tide usually rolls.

Alabama hasn’t been this impressive on the basketball court since the Eisenhower Administration was in the White House. Ranked #3 in the nation, the Crimson Tide are 11-0 in the SEC for the first time since 1955-56. They’ve won 10 of those 11 conference games by double digits.

Alabama is set as 2-point road favorites over Auburn as they renew hostilities. The Tide are 7-1 straight up and 5-3 against the spread as a road team this season.

At odds of +1000, Alabama is the co-second betting choice with Purdue and Arizona to win the NCAA Tournament in the college basketball national championship odds.

Auburn Tigers Betting Trends

After a strong start, things are beginning to go south for Auburn. The Tigers have lost four of five games. They were swept in a home-and-home series by Texas A&M and held to 43 points in a loss to Tennessee.

Junior guard Wendell Green Jr is pacing the offense with 13.9 ppg and 4.4 assists per game. He scored 20 points in Auburn’s last game against Texas A&M.

Sophomore forward Johni Broome, a Morehead State transfer, has been good for 13.7 ppg and 9.0 rpg. Senior forward Jaylin Williams is accounting for 10.5 ppg and 5.3 rpg.

The Tigers are rated 27th by KenPom and are situated 32nd overall in the NET rankings. Auburn is also #14 in the nation in defensive efficiency.

Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Trends

The average margin of victory for Alabama in 11 SEC victories this season is 22.3 points per game. Against Vanderbilt, the Tide won by 59 points.

In both the KenPom and NET rankings, the Crimson Tide are situated #2, behind only the Houston Cougars in both metrics. Alabama already has a win over Houston on the books this season.

Leading the way for Alabama are a pair of freshmen. Forward Brandon Miller is averaging 19.0 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game. He could be the best freshman in the nation. Miller scored a team-leading 24 in Alabama’s most recent victory over Florida. He’s hit 44% of his 3-pointers.

Freshman forward Noah Clowney (10.0 ppg, 8.1 rpg) paced the Houston upset with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Mark Sears, an Ohio transfer, is putting up 13.9 ppg and 3.7 rpg.

Alabama vs Auburn Prediction

Alabama is so dominant this season that KenPom is projecting the Crimson Tide to win the SEC title by four games. That would be the largest margin of victory in the conference since Kentucky won by five games in 2015.

Alabama is the #2 defense in the nation at stopping the 3-point shot, allowing just a 26.1% success rate. The Tide are also #5 in the NCAA in scoring margin, winning on average by 15 points per game.

Auburn is actually a better ATS team on the road (6-3) than at home (5-7). The Tigers are 11-1 SU at home, but they are also 0-3 SU this season as a betting underdog.

Pick: Alabama -2 (-110)
