Another huge Saturday schedule of college basketball is coming at you this weekend including the Creighton Bluejays (9-6, 8-7 ATS) visiting the Connecticut Huskies (14-2, 11-4-1 ATS) in a Big East tilt. Tipoff is set for noon ET on Saturday, January 7th from the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.

UConn has a sparkling 14-2 record which has them propped up as the 4th ranked team in the nation, but both of those losses have come in conference play, so they’ll be anxious to dispose of Creighton in this one.

With a perfect home record, Connecticut have opened up as 7.5-point favorites in the college basketball odds with the over/under total sitting at 141.5 points. See the complete Creighton vs Connecticut odds below while we offer up our best bet and prediction for this matchup.

Furthermore, in the college basketball odds, UConn has failed to cover the spread in each of their last four contests. A loss in this one and the Huskies will fall further down the list in the AP Top 25 rankings.

Creighton Bluejays Betting Analysis

If UConn expects to just roll over their conference opponents on Saturday afternoon, they have another thing coming. Despite a 9-6 record, the Bluejays have played a pretty tough schedule facing a number of teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation.

Playing in the tough Big East does nobody any favors, but at 3-1, the Bluejays actually have a better conference record than the 4th ranked Huskies.

According to KenPom, Creighton are ranked 18th overall in the nation. They are the only squad in the top 50 with six or more losses this campaign. They are ranked in the top 30 in both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency, playing well on both sides of the ball.

Without any superstars taking control, the Creighton offense gets it done by committee with all their starters averaging between 11.5 and 15.3 points per game.

In the post, 7’1 center, Ryan Kalkbrenner has been dominant shooting 76.2% from the field to lead the team in scoring. From the floor, the junior currently owns the second best shooting percentage of any player in the country.

Connecticut Huskies Betting Analysis

Conference games have not been kind to UConn as of late and now they’ll have to host a Creighton side that’s defeated them five straight times.

That can’t bode well for a team that’s already questioning how good they are following consecutive losses. A third straight defeat to start the year will not bode well for a side regarded as one of the favorites in the odds to win March Madness.

The Huskies can take solace in knowing they’ll be playing on their own court where they’ve been dominant this season with a flawless 9-0 record.

In spite of their consecutive losses, UConn are still 3rd in the overall KenPom rankings, excelling on both offense and defense. According to KenPom they rank top 10 on both sides of the ball.

On offense, Adam Sonogo and Jordan Hawkins lead the way, combining to pour in 32 points per game. At home, the Huskies have been scoring at will this season averaging an incredible 86.9 points per outing.

Creighton vs Connecticut Pick & Prediction

It’s a bit stunning that sportsbooks are giving UConn so many points given their last couple outings as well as their recent track record against Creighton. The betting line has shrunk a bit since opening with an 8-point handicap.

As previously mentioned, the Huskies offense has been on fire at home. They have hit the over in each of their last six games on their own court and overall, have topped the over in 11 of 16 games this season.

There could be an upset in the making here, but the best bet is to pick these squads going above the betting total in the Creighton vs Connecticut odds. With an average of almost 90 points per game at home this season, UConn doesn’t even have to come to close to that to go over as long as Creighton carries their fair share of the load.

Pick: Over 141.5 (-117)
