Creighton Betting Outlook

Sophomore guard Trey Alexander helped Creighton overcome a poor shooting game by scoring a game-high 27 points Saturday in the win over Villanova.

Alexander made 5 of 9 three-point attempts. He scored 15 points in the second half after Creighton built a 35-27 halftime lead and finished with at least 20 points for the third time this season.

Creighton shot just 37.7% (20 of 53) overall and 29.2% (7 of 24) from three-point range. However, the Bluejays also held Villanova to 38.8% (19 of 49) from the field and 28.0 (7 of 25) from long distance.

Alexander is Creighton’s second-leading scorer at 13.5 points a game.

Junior center Ryan Kalkbrenner, who has +25000 Wooden Award odds, is averaging 15.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots while shooting a Big East-best 73.3% from the field. He also leads the conference in blocks.

Against Villanova, Kalkbrenner finished with 16 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. He made 7 of 11 field goal attempts.

Andrew Nembhard added 10 points and five assists. He is third in the Big East with 5.3 assists a game while also averaging 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Senior guard Baylor Scheierman has been a stat sheet stuffer after transferring from South Dakota State. He has averages of 13.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists while ranking third in the conference in boards.

Sophomore forward Arthur Kaluma is scoring 12.5 points and grabbing 6.4 rebounds a game.

Seton Hall Betting Outlook

Seton Hill also shot poorly Sunday in its win over DePaul, knocking down just 34.5% (18 of 52) of its field goal tries. The Pirates were also a sickly 3 for 14 (21.4) from three-point range.

The three ball has been a problem all season as Seton Hall is 308th in the nation at 31.7%. However, the Pirates are 18th in three-point defense (29.4%), 35th in field goal percentage allowed (40.4) and 42nd in points given up (64.0).

Senior forward Tyrese Samuel and junior guard Kadary Richmond scored 14 points each to lead Seton Hall. Samuel added seven rebounds and Richmond contributed six rebounds and four assists.

Senior forward KC Ndefo finished with 13 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Senior guard Al-Amir Dawes chipped in with 12 points, five steals and three assists. Senior forward Tray Jackson had 10 points.

Richmond scored 10 points in the first half when Seton Hall took a 26-22 lead after falling behind 15-2. Dawes had 11 of his 12 points after the break.

Dawes, a Clemson transfer, is averaging 14.7 points and shooting 9 of 22 (40.9%) from three-point range in the last three games. His 12.0 overall scoring average leads Seton Hall.

Samuel is scoring 10.4 points and gathering 5.7 rebounds a game. Richmond is averaging 10.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals.

Reserve junior wing Dre Davis could return after missing the last two games. He has a 9.1 scoring average after transferring from Louisville.

Creighton has won five of its last seven games against Seton Hall, including an 83-61 victory on Jan. 3 at home. Kalkbrenner led the Bluejays with 17 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots.

Look for the trend to continue as Creighton is on fire.
