Odds as of March 8 at DraftKings

Despite finishing in a tie with Towson for the best conference record, the Seahawks were given the sixth-best odds of the 9-team field at +1000. The Blue Hens, meanwhile, finished fourth in CAA and were given the third-best odds pre-tournament, at +800.

Towson had been slotted into a #12 seed in the latest projected NCAA Tournament bracket before falling to Delaware. It’s safe to assume that the winner of Tuesday’s CAA title game will be a #15 seed at best. Delaware is 137th in the NET Rankings, while UNC-W is 167th. By comparison, Towson is 73rd even after losing on Monday.

Delaware Blue Hens Betting Analysis

The Blue Hens punched their ticket into the final by ousting the top-seeded Towson Tigers 69-56 on Monday night. Towson had been the class of the CAA all season and had even shown up in the Final Four odds in late February, making Delaware’s win all the more impressive.

Kevin Anderson led the way, scoring 17 points, with his four field goal hits all coming from behind the three-point line. He also added four assists.

Jyare Davis, the CAA Conference Rookie of the Years, had 14 points and eight rebounds for Delaware, who also got double-digit scoring efforts from Dylan Painter (12) and Jameer Nelson Jr (11).

After dropping both ends of the season series to the Tigers in the regular season, the Blue Hens broke through in the tournament, and they did it with a strong defensive effort.

They held Towson to just 18-for-58 shooting from the field (31%), including a woeful 4-for-23 from beyond the three-point line, a 17.4% clip.

Delaware will now try to top UNC Wilmington for the first time this season, after they dropped a 69-62 decision on February 26, and a 70-68 match on December 29.

UNC Wilmington Seahawks Betting Analysis

While Delaware left their semi-final pretty madness free, UNC Wilmington was in a semi-final that college hoops are scripted for this time of year.

The Seahawks prevailed in a wild 60-57 win over the Charleston Cougars, in a game that came down to precious few seconds at the end of the second half.

Dimitrius Underwood’s layup for the Cougars tied the game at 54 with 2:38 left. Shykeim Phillips hit a jumper to put the Seahawks up, and it’s a lead they nursed all the way home. Mike Okauru would add another bucket and Jaylen Sims hit a pair of clutch free throws to ice it.

Phillips put an end to any Charleston miracle with a steal with one second to play.

Sims led UNCW with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Okaru had 11 points and four steals. They were the only two players to score in double digits for the Seahawks in the semi-final.

Delaware vs UNC Wilmington Pick

The Blue Hens are just 14-18 ATS this season, but they have been getting it done defensively, holding their two opponents to 56 points apiece at the CAA Tournament. They had surrendered 71.3 points per game during the regular season.

The Seahawks have only averaged 67.5 points per game in this tournament, down from their season average of 70.5. They do have a very good 18-11 record against the spread this season.

It’s still shocking that UNCW was considered such a longshot in this tournament, when they ended the year winning six of their final eight, the only losses to top-seeded Towson and Hofstra, who finished third in the CAA.

With so much at stake, look for the defense to clamp down. UNC Wilmington has seen their past four games go under, while Delaware has finished under in their last three. One of those was a head-to-head between the two teams.

Pick: Under 134 (-110)
