Duke Betting Trends

Junior guard Jeremy Roach, Duke’s only non-freshman starter, topped the Blue Devils with 20 points and seven rebounds Saturday in the win against North Carolina.

Roach scored eight of Duke’s last 10 points. He also has back-to-back games with at least 20 points, raising his season total to four.

A steady influence, Roach is second on the team in scoring with an average of 12.7 points a game.

Freshman center Kyle Filipowski is averaging 15.7 points and 9.3 rebounds. He is fifth in the ACC in rebounding.

Against North Carolina, Filipowski had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Freshman guard Tyrese Proctor totaled 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists. While freshman center Dereck Lively II scored just four points, he set career highs with 14 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

The blocks helped set the tone for a strong defensive effort. Duke held North Carolina to 34.3% (24 of 70) from the field and 25.9% (7 of 27) on three-pointers.

Lively’s dunk with 1:35 left broke a 57-all tie and put the Blue Devils ahead for good. He is second in the conference in blocked shots with a 2.3 average.

Duke also had a tough shooting night, making just 39.3% (24 of 70) of its field goal attempts. The Blue Devils, though, outscored North Carolina 20-2 in fast break points.

Duke is 20th in the nation in scoring (76.3) but 229th in field goal percentage (43.8) and 264th in three-point shooting (32.6%). Defensively, though the Blue Devils rank 22nd in three-point percentage (29.9), 34 in scoring (63.4) and 41st in field goal percentage (40.8).

Miami Betting Trends

Miami was tied with Clemson 35-35 at halftime on Saturday before sophomore guard Nigel Pack and junior guard Isaiah Wong led the Hurricanes to victory.

Pack scored 14 of his 20 points in the second. His two free throws with 0.9 seconds left sealed the win.

Wong had 11 of his 15 points following the break when Miami hit half of its 12 three-point attempts and went 11 of 13 at the foul line.

Sophomore guard Wooga Poplar added 14 points, senior guard Jordan Miller and 12 points and seven rebounds and sophomore forward Norchad Omier contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.

Miami outrebounded Clemson 38-28 and its nine offensive boards led to a 9-4 advantage in second-chance points. The Hurricanes have won their last 25 games when outrebounding an opponent.

Wong is Miami’s best all-around player as he is averaging 16.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals a game. His Wooden Award odds are +20000.

Miller has averages of 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 steals.

Omier is scoring 13.7 points and grabbing 10.1 rebounds a game. The Arkansas State transfer is second in the league in rebounding and field goal shooting (60.7%).

Pack has a 12.5 scoring average for Miami, which is 19th in the country in free throw shooting (76.4%), 23rd in field goal percentage (48.2) and 38th in scoring (78.3).

Duke vs Miami Prediction

Duke has won six of the last eight meetings, including 68-66 on Jan. 21 at home when Filipowski had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Miller topped Miami with 19. The young Blue Devils seem to be coming together and should give the Hurricanes a battle.

Pick: Duke +3 (-110)

Season record: 25-21 (+1.9 units) ATS, 2-7 (-4.5 units) ML
