Kansas vs TCU Betting Analysis

It was a tale of two halves for Kansas, who found themselves down 13 against Baylor at half, before a monster second-half rally to secure a 76-61 win. KU outscored the the Bears 55-26 in the second half, in a matchup of top-10 teams.

Dajuan Harris scored all of his 14 points in the second half, while also dishing out nine assists. Jalen Wilson had 21 points and 13 boards, while KJ Adams had 17 points, four rebounds and three assists.

As for TCU, they ended their 4-game skid on the road, with a 100-75 whipping of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Miles Jr — the preseason Big 12 Player of the Year — looked good in his return from a knee injury, dropping 15 points and two assists in 35 minutes.

That tied for the team high with Damion Baugh, who had 16 points and 11 dimes, as six Horned Frogs scored in double digits. The 100 points was the second-highest output for TCU on the season.

Both of these teams are inside the KenPom top-20 rankings. Kansas ranks seventh, while TCU checks in at 19th. They bookend the five Big 12 programs in the top 20.

The Jayhawks are 15th in KenPom’s offensive and defensive efficiency, with the Horned Frogs dipping to 45th in offensive efficiency and 22nd in defensive efficiency.

Kansas vs TCU Prediction

The in-season pain of sitting Miles might now be worth it, as TCU returns the whole unit that smacked KU 83-60. He had 15 points, four rebounds and four dimes in that one, while Shahada Wells led them in scoring with 17 points, adding five rebounds and four steals.

The Horned Frogs shot 54.4% and led by as many as 25 points.

Wilson was about the only bright spot in the blowout, hanging 30 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Kevin McCullar Jr was the only other Jayhawk to score in double-digits, with 10.

There’s one clear way Kansas can cut into this TCU side: win the 3-point battle. In their Jan 21 matchup, TCU shot 8-for-15, a 53.3% clip. This is a team that ranks 342nd in the nation in three-point shooting, a lowly 29.2% clip.

Kansas is a middle-of-the-pack deep threat, hitting at a 35.3% average (117th). They could only muster a 7-for-21 effort (33.3%) in the loss.

Kansas has been a perfect bet during their current 4-game fun run, as they’re 4-0 against the spread. They’re also 5-1 ATS in their last six against teams with a winning record.

Equally impressive is TCU’s betting run at home, where they are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 at Schollmaier Arena. They’re also 5-1 ATS in their last six against teams with a winning road record.

Despite the fact the road team has been the pick — running a 7-2 ATS mark over the last nine — the Horned Frogs are whole, and should allow them to again pick apart the KU defense.

Pick: TCU -2 (-110)
