Overall, the Indiana Hoosiers have the Minnesota Golden Gophers’ number. Indiana has won three in a row from Minnesota. The Hoosiers hold a 6-1 advantage in the last seven meetings and an 8-2 edge through the past 10 games.

The picture grows even more grim for the Golden Gophers when they take their show on the road to Indiana. At home, Indiana has won six straight over Minnesota. The Hoosiers are winners of 26 of their last 32 home meetings with the Golden Gophers dating back to 1983.

No wonder then that Indiana is set as a solid 11.5-point home favorite as they play host to Minnesota in a Big Ten game on Sunday. The Hoosiers are 8-2 against the spread at home this season.

Minnesota Golden Gophers Betting Trends

Minnesota (10-2, 1-2) dropped a 76-53 home decision to Illinois in the last game. Sophomore forward Jamison Battle scored 10 points in the loss. That gives him 27 consecutive games scoring double digits in points.

The Golden Gophers rank 11th in the Big Ten in scoring (70.4 points per game). Minnesota is eighth in the conference in field goal percentage (45.7%). According to KenPom, they’re 106th nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency (106.1), and 96th in effective field goal percentage (52.0).

What Minnesota does do well, though, is shoot the 3-ball. Senior guard Payton Willis (15.7 points per game) and Battle (18.2 ppg) both rank in the top 10 of the Big Ten in made 3-pointers. Willis is htting 2.5 threes per game, while Battle averages 2.4 3-point field goals a night. Senior guard Eylijah Stephens has made 19 threes. Both Stephens and Willis are draining more than 43% of their 3-point attempts.

Battle is sixth in the Big Ten in scoring, while Willis is 11th overall. Willis also ranks fourth in the league with 1.8 steals per game.

Indiana Hoosiers Betting Trends

The Hoosiers (11-3, 2-2) come into this contest off a high. Indiana easily handled the #13 Ohio State Buckeyes 67-51 on Thursday. The Hoosiers held the Buckeyes to season-lows in points (51), field goal percentage (30.8%) and points per possession (0.75).

The leading returning scorer in the Big Ten, sophomore forward Trayce Jackson-Davis is averaging a team-leading 19.9 points per game. That’s fourth in the conference. He’s shooting 60.3% from the field, which is third in the Big Ten. As well, Jackson-Davis is fifth in rebounds (8.5) and first in blocked shots (3.2).

Jackson-Davis set a Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall record by scoring 43 points against Marshall. He’s posted five double-doubles this season.

Indiana redshirt junior forward Race Thompson is the son of Darrell Thompson, Minnesota’s all-time leading rusher in football. The younger Thompson is sixth in the league in rebounding at 7.9 boards per game and has six games of 10 rebounds or more this season.

Hoosiers vs Golden Gophers Prediction

Indiana is holding a 104-69 edge in the all-time series against Minnesota. The Hoosiers are first in the Big Ten and second nationally in field goal percentage defense overall (35.1% overall/36.3% in Big Ten games).

Indiana also leads the conference in scoring defense (60.8 points allowed per game) and is second in Big Ten in blocked shots (5.7), third in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (47.8%) and fourth in rebound margin (+8.43), and in 3-point field goal percentage defense (29.6%).

The Hoosiers are a perfect 10-0 straight up at home this season. Minnesota are no slouches away from home, though.
