Ohio State Betting Outlook

Ohio State led Purdue by 12 points in the first half but couldn’t hold on despite a fine effort by freshman forward Brice Sensabaugh.

Sensabugh had 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting. He has reached double figures in scoring in seven straight games and had at least 20 points in three of his last five games.

Last year’s Mr. Basketball in Florida is averaging a team-high 16.3 points a game.

Senabaugh leads an offense that is 20th in the nation in field goal percentage (49.2), 35th in scoring (80.1) and 40th in three-point shooting (37.8%). Defensively, Ohio State is 27th in three-point percentage allowed (28.9) and 42nd in overall field percentage (39.8).

Senior forward Justice Sueing was the only other Buckeyes player to score in double figures Thursday. He finished with 15 points, lifting his season average to 13.6.

Ohio State lost one of its key players early when junior Zed Key left with a sprained shoulder four minutes into the game. He is questionable for Sunday.

Key is scoring 12.4 points and pulling down 7.8 rebounds a game.

Ohio State shot 50% (29 of 58) against Purdue and 42.9% (6 of 14) from long range and committed just seven turnovers. However, the Boilermakers made a season-high 13 threes in 31 attempts (41.9%) and held a 37-27 rebounding edge as the Buckeyes missed Key on the boards.

Maryland Betting Outlook

Maryland was unable to overcome two scoring droughts in its loss to Rutgers.

The Terrapins went 8:45 without a point during one stretch of the first half. They shot just 25% in the first 20 minutes and fell behind 24-17 by the break.

Maryland was then outscored 12-0 during a 4:11 span of the second half.

Jahmir Young led Maryland with 13 points, all coming in the second half. Fellow senior guard Donald Carey added 12 points.

Maryland committed 20 turnovers, including five by sophomore forward Julian Reese.

A transfer from Charlotte, Young is averaging 14.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists a game.

Senior forward Donta Scott is scoring 12.2 points and pulling down 5.9 rebounds a game while senior guard Hakim Hart has an 11.7 scoring average and Reese has averages of 10.0 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Maryland has played strong defense under first-year coach Kevin Willard, ranking 23rd in three-point percentage allowed (28.7), 47th in overall field goal percentage (40.0) and 49th in points given up (63.3).

Ohio State vs Maryland Prediction

Maryland ended a three-game losing streak against Ohio State last season with a 75-60 win at home. Scott had 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Buckeyes will certainly miss Key if he can’t play but still have enough to beat the Terrapins, even on the road.

Pick: Ohio State -110 ML

Season record: 19-12 (+5.8 units) ATS, 0-3 (-3.0 units) ML
