Pepperdine Waves Betting Analysis

Last time out, the Waves were crushed 86-74 by UC Santa Barbara. Jan Zidek led the way in a losing effort with a season-high 20, while Victor Ohia Obioha finished with 15.

Pepperdine shot 43.3% versus the Gauchos, and 38.1% from beyond the arc, but they couldn’t contain their opponent at the other end.

UC Santa Barbara shot 53% from the field, and 41.2% from three, while the only thing that prevented this from being an even bigger blowout was 15 Gaucho turnovers.

The Waves are now 0-7 when surrendering 70 or more points, compared to 2-1 when they hold their opponent below 70 points.

Pepperdine enters Monday’s contest ranked 256th in scoring defense, and 272nd in opponent effective field goal percentage. They’re 177th at defending the three-point line, and 265th in total rebounding. It’s no wonder they’re 2-8.

Offensively, the numbers aren’t much better. They rank 266th in points per game, 268th in effective field goal percentage, and 198th in three-point efficiency.

San Jose State Spartans Betting Analysis

The Spartans latest victory was a 76-51 thumping of North Dakota. Trey Anderson led the way with 17 points and 8 rebounds, while Swiss Army knife Omari Moore splashed 13. The versatile Moore is averaging 15.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game this season, and has scored or assisted on 44% of his team’s baskets.

San Jose State shot 47.6% from the field, and 42.3% from three versus the Fighting Hawks, while finishing plus-11 in the assist department. The Spartans are by no means an elite offense, but they do shoot three’s exceptionally well.

They rank 12th in the nation in three-point efficiency, and are one of only two Mountain West conference programs to average over 9 triples per contest.

Defensively, San Jose State clamped down on North Dakota holding them 26.3% from the field, while forcing 12 turnovers. That type of suffocating defense isn’t an every night occurrence however, as the Spartans rank 141st in opponent points per game, despite facing just one team ranked higher than 111th in the nation.
