Stetson Hatters Found Shooting Stroke During Holidays

In their five games prior to the holiday break, Stetson only scored over 66 points once, going 1-4 and averaging 63.6 points during that span. Since then they have poured in over 66 points in every game, going 4-0 and averaging 80.5 points on offense.

They’ll look to carry that newfound shooting touch into their conference clash with Bellarmine in the college basketball odds  on Thursday evening.

Offense has been the key to success for the Hatters this year. Their adjusted offensive efficiency ranks 71st in the nation according to KenPom, which balances an adjusted defensive efficiency that puts them 338th in the country.

Collectively, the Hatters have shot 47.7% from the floor during their current four game winning streak. Where they really do their damage is from long distance, shooting 38.5% which puts them top 20 amongst all Division I programs.

They’re not shy about launching from deep either, attempting an average of 26 triples per game. Only six teams in the country jack up more three-pointers per game.

Bellarmine Knights Hitting Over in Betting Odds Recently

While Bellarmine don’t have quite as potent an offense as their conference foes, they also have impressed with their ability to get buckets this year. According to KenPom, they have an effective field goal percentage of 52.7, placing them 69th in the country.

They need that efficiency scoring the ball because of the snail’s pace they play at. Bellarmine average just 62.0 possessions per 40 minutes, an adjusted tempo that ranks them 359 out of 363 teams in the nation.

The Knights have hit the over in every game since the calendar flipped to 2023 and five out of their last six contests overall.

This squad also has a tendency to fall in love with the deep ball, hitting on 35.6% of their shots from long distance which grants them real estate in the top 100 in that category. Over 40% of their points come from beyond the arc. Only nine teams in the country rely more on the 3-ball to net their baskets.

Stetson vs Bellarmine Pick and Prediction

Teams that live and die by the 3-ball can shoot themselves out of games, but could also be terrifying opponents for the heavyweight programs in the odds to win March Madness, so these squads could pose a threat if either makes the big dance.

Bellarmine has been the favorite each of the last four times these teams met and has come out victorious in three of those games, covering the spread as well in all of those wins.
