We are slowly inching our way to crowning a champion for the 2020-21 NCAA basketball season. As we get closer, the odds to win the NCAA Tournament change and new betting opportunities are presented. It’s important to keep up with each change so that bettors can capitalize at the right time.

The table below shows the latest national championship odds for the remaining Elite 8 teams.

Gonzaga Looks Dominant

The team with the shortest odds in the Elite 8 is the Gonzaga Bulldogs. It’s hardly surprising given what they have done to not only every opponent in the tournament, but also everyone they’ve faced this season. According to KenPom, they have the number-one rated offense and number seven defense in terms of efficiency in the nation. That combo is the reason that no opponent in the tournament has finished within 16 points of the Bulldogs.

Way back on March 13, 2020, Gonzaga opened at +900 to win the 2021 National Championship. By May 10, 2020, the odds had swelled to their longest point of +975. Seemingly with every beat-down they’ve handed out along the way, the odds shrink.

On the day the round of 64 started, the Bulldogs were at +205 and haven’t been that long since. Bettors seem to be tripping over themselves to bet Gonzaga to win the national title this season. After seeing their first three games, it’s no surprise as to why.

Oregon State Is Still Dancing

The highest seed still remaining in the tournament is the twelve-seeded Oregon State Beavers. Their Cinderella story will continue in the Elite 8 against a Houston Cougars team that looks to be peaking at the right time. Still, it’s hard to discount the Beavers after seeing who they have beaten so far.

The Beavers haven’t been a favorite in any game yet they’ve won them all. In the first round, they not only beat the Tennessee Volunteers but they blew them out 70-56. Next up, it was the Oklahoma State Cowboys, whom they took down by double digits, 80-70. In their latest game, it was the Loyola Chicago Ramblers that felt the Oregon State burn.

The first Beavers’ national championship odds to appear on the SBD tracker were +25000 on March 14, 2021. They weren’t going anywhere near the tournament unless they won their conference tournament which they were able to accomplish. The Beavers are still a long shot to win this thing but they’re latest odds are at +1400 which is a far cry from the highest point of +27667.

At this point, it’s fair to ask if they are a value at their current number given the level of competition they have beaten thus far.
