Wake Forest vs Duke Odds

Team Moneyline Spread Total
Wake Forest +450 +10.5 (-110) O 147 (-120)
Duke -630 -10.5 (-110) U 147(-102)

Odds as of February 14th, 2022 at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Duke is a 10.5-point favorite over Wake Forest, while the total is 147. The -630 moneyline price for the Blue Devils amounts to an 86.3% implied win probability, while Wake Forest’s +450 odds to win is equal to 18.2% implied probability.

Steve Forbes’ team got 25 points from leading scorer Alondes Williams against the Hurricanes, but it wasn’t enough to win a fourth straight. Daivien Williamson added 12 points in the loss that saw Wake shoot 55% from the field, but commit 17 turnovers.

Meantime, Mike Krzyzewski saw Paolo Banchero lead a group of five players in double-digits with a 16-point, 14-rebound night against the Eagles over the weekend. The 11-point victory marked the fourth game in eight days for the Dukies — with three of them road wins. They remain a top-six betting favorite in the NCAA Tournament odds at both FanDuel and DraftKings Sportsbook. Though they were second only to Gonzaga last month.

Duke Owns Wake Forest in H2H History

Dating back to the 2014-15 season, Wake Forest has only beaten Duke once in the last 15 tries. And even that victory two years ago — a 113-101 win at home in double overtime — did not come easy. But despite its loss over the weekend, Wake Forest is one of the most offensively accomplished opponents Duke will face down the stretch.

Through 15 ACC games, the Demon Deacons lead the conference in team field goal percentage (50.3%) and are second in opponent field goal percentage (40%.0). Wake Forest has held nine of its first 15 ACC opponents to below 40% shooting and leads the conference with seven ACC victories by 15 points or more. Those credentials are beyond solid.

Plus, Williams is one of the most dynamic players Coach K has had to scheme this season. The Milwaukee native leads the ACC in both points and assists and is the only player in the country averaging at least 19.0 points (19.8), 6.0 rebounds (6.9), and 5.0 assists (5.2).

He went for 25 the last time these two teams played on Jan. 12. But Forbes’ team turned the ball over 15 times that game (compared to just seven for Duke). The Demon Deacons need to take care of the ball Tuesday to have a chance.

Duke is 8-6 ATS in ACC Play

While the Blue Devils are 11-3 in conference play, they’re only 8-6 against the spread. Of course, one of those eight victories came as a 6-point road favorite against Wake Forest last month. Tuesday’s tilt back home marks the end of a five-game, 11-day stretch for Coach K’s club that has seen it go 3-1 so far — the only loss being a 69-68 decision against Virginia last Monday. The Dukies took care of business in The Hub on Saturday.

Whereas Wake is especially potent offensively, Duke is particularly stingy defensively. The Blue Devils lead the ACC in both field-goal defense (40.2%) and 3-point defense (29.1%) and have held 11 of their last 14 opponents — and 17 for the season — to under 30% from behind the arc.

Banchero leads all true freshman in Power 5 programs in scoring (17.0 ppg) and rebounds (8.7 rpg) — and now he has “Diaper-Dandy” company. Trevor Keels is the reigning ACC Freshman of the Week, averaging a team-leading 15.3 points and shooting 54% from the field and 53% from distance over the last four games

Wake Forest vs Duke Prediction

History alone tells us Duke will win this game. That’s simple. But the question North Carolina bettors have to ask themselves is: will a relatively tired Blue Devil squad have enough energy to fend off a frisky Wake crew?

Behind Williams, I think the Demon Deacons do enough to keep this close.

Pick: Wake Forest +10.5 (-110)
