USC Owns Washington State in Recent H2H History

The Trojans have knocked off the Cougars in 11 straight meetings dating back to the 2015-16 season. Five of those wins have come in LA, with a 15.6-margin of victory. USC enters Sunday’s tilt with confidence after taking down a program that has traditionally dogged it over the years.

The Trojans squeaked by the Cougars 63-61 in Pullman back on Dec. 4 in a game that saw Goodwin convert a layup and a free throw with 16 seconds left to give Southern California the victory. SC’s offensive efficiency (50% from the field) in that one proved to be too much for the Cougars, who shot just 38%.

Wazzou’s leading scorer, Michael Flowers (who goes for 13.4 ppg), scored 13 points in that heartbreaking loss. Williams finished with 12 points, but missed two shots in the closing seconds — including a 3-pointer at the buzzer — that would have given the Cougars the win.

USC is 2-5 ATS in Last Seven

Despite going 5-2 straight up over its lasts seven games. USC has gone 2-5 against the spread over that stretch. That includes a 10-point victory as 11.5-point favorites against Washington Thursday.

Despite the recent rough ATS run, a key factor for Enfield’s group this season has been its defensive prowess. USC held UW to just 36.7% from the field Thursday and has held 18 of its 26 opponents to under 40% shooting this season.  Overall, the Trojans are holding opponents to 37.7%  this season, seventh in the country.

Four players are scoring in double-figures for the home team Sunday, led by Isaiah Mobley’s 14.6 points per game. He’s joined by Goodwin (12.3 ppg), Boogie Ellis (12.1 ppg) and Peterson (11.7 ppg) in that group.

Washington State vs USC Prediction

Nine of the Cougars’ 11 losses have been by five points or less during the 2021-22 campaign. But considering the program’s long struggles against USC, this one appears to be headed for a wider margin.

The Trojans will honor Goodwin and three other senior players prior to the nationally-televised tilt. Look Enfield’s crew to take advantage of the opportunity and throttle the Cougars.

Pick: USC -5.5 (-114)
