Last Saturday, Georgia rolled to a 27-6 victory over fellow top-10 team Auburn as a 7.5-point favorite. Favored by 10 points, Tennessee handled Missouri 35-12.

The Bulldogs and Volunteers are each 1-1 against the spread.

The Mailman Delivers

“The Mailman” delivered again for Georgia against Auburn as Stetson Bennett threw for 240 yards and a touchdown in his first college start.

The fourth-year junior completed 17 of 28 passes with a touchdown.

Bennett got the nod after coming on in relief of D’Wan Mathis in the second quarter of UGA’s opener at Arkansas, rallying the Bulldogs to a 34-10 victory.

While in high school in Blackshear, Ga, Bennett often wore a United States Postal Service cap. Hence, the nickname.

Wide receiver Kearis Jackson was Bennett’s favorite target Saturday, catching nine passes for 149 yards. Zamir White added two touchdown runs against Auburn. He had 88 yards on the ground on 19 carries.

Georgia took control early, building a 24-0 lead with 6:26 left in the first half. The Bulldogs had more than twice as many total yards as Auburn, outgaining the Tigers 442-216.

Eight Straight for Vols

Tennessee rode the running back tandem of Eric Gray and Tyler Chandler along with the steady play of fifth-year quarterback Jarrett Guarantano to victory over Missouri.

Gray rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries and caught a TD pass. Chandler added 90 yards on the ground in 19 attempts.

Gray is the first Tennessee player to have a rushing touchdown in four consecutive games since quarterback Josh Dobbs in 2016.

Guarantano went 14 of 23 for 190 yards and a touchdown and had two short scoring runs. He converted three fourth-down runs in the first quarter.

Tennessee did not have a turnover while recording a 422-344 edge in total yardage.

The Volunteers have now won eight straight games after finishing last season on a six-game streak. That matches Notre Dame for the longest current winning streak among Power Five teams.

Daniels Able to Play

Georgia third-year sophomore quarterback JT Daniels has been cleared to play but was not needed with Bennett shining. Daniels is recovering from knee surgery that ended his 2019 season at USC after only one game.

Georgia running James Cook carried five times for 41 yards against Auburn before leaving with an arm injury in the second quarter. Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said Cook should be ready to face Tennessee.

Offensive tackle Warren McClendon should also play this week after leaving Saturday’s game late with legs cramps.

Line Lookahead

Georgia beat Tennessee 43-14 on the road as a 24.5-point last season and the line is hefty again.

The Volunteers are unbeaten, but the Bulldogs are coming off a very impressive win and will be at home again this week. The line is likely to go a little higher between now and kickoff.
