GSU’s Pinckney a Real Threat
Cornelious Brown IV threw three touchdown passes, including two to Sam Pinckney in Georgia State’s win over East Carolina.
Brown was also intercepted twice as he completed 18 of 28 attempts for 238 yards. Pinckney, a sophomore, had seven receptions for a career-high 134 yards.

Georgia State wound up with 485 total yards as Destin Coates rushed for 113 yards and two scores on 23 carries.
Georgia State set a school record for points in a half as it its built a 35-13 halftime lead. The Bulldogs also had 303 total yards in the first 30 minutes.
The Bulldogs limited East Carolina to 292 yards, including just 50 on the ground in 26 attempts.
ASU QBs Bring Double Trouble
Arkansas State alternates quarterbacks, and both Logan Bonner and Layne Hatcher had three touchdown passes against Central Arkansas.
It marked the first time in school history that the Red Wolves had two players throw at least three TDs in the same game.

Bonner finished the day 11-of-19 passing for 239 yards. Hatcher was 10 of 19 for 153 yards as both QBs had to deal with windy and rainy conditions.
For the season, Bonner has completed 64 percent of his passes for 741 yards and eight touchdowns with three interceptions. Hatcher has a 59-percent completion rate, 564 yards, six TDs and one pick.
Arkansas State also got a big defensive play when cornerback Samy Johnson returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown.
Panthers Pulled Upset in ’19
Georgia State upset Arkansas State 52-38 last season in Atlanta as a 6.5-point underdog.
Pinckney burned the Red Wolves for nine receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown. Georgia State had 39 first downs and 722 total yards, though the since-graduated Dan Ellington was running the offense.
Hatcher saw most of the action at quarterback for Arkansas State and completed 21 of 32 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions.

Wrong Favorite?
The pandemic-impacted 2020 college football schedule has undoubtedly impacted Georgia State.
It is the middle of October, yet the Panthers have played just two games. With four games under its belt, Arkansas State should theoretically be a little sharper.
However, Georgia State looks like the better team with its dynamic offense – including a playmaker in Pinckney – and solid defense. It appears the wrong side is favored in this one.
