#15 Kansas State has a lot to play for on Saturday as they visit West Virginia in Week 12 of the CFB season. The kick-off is scheduled for 2 PM ET at Mountaineer Field. This game can be seen on ESPN. Read on for the Kansas State vs West Virginia prediction.

The Wildcats currently sit in second place in the Big 12 with a 7-3 record overall and absolutely shellacked Baylor last weekend, 31-3. With unbeaten TCU facing the Bears, K-State will be hoping for a win and a Horned Frogs loss. The Mountaineers meanwhile are in the midst of a poor campaign, sitting all the way back in 10th in the conference. But, they grabbed a thrilling 23-20 victory over Oklahoma in Week 11.

The Wildcats beat the Mountaineers 34-17 last season, but West Virginia won five straight prior to that.

Kansas State Betting Outlook

The Wildcats have a lot at stake here. While taking over first place would be ideal, they can guarantee themselves a spot in the Big 12 title game with a pair of victories in their last two games. Chris Klieman’s group plays Kansas in Week 13. K-State is just 2-2 in their previous four contests, but the win over Baylor made a loud statement.

They had 405 total yards and that was much in part to quarterback Will Howard, who ended up taking over for the injured Adrian Martinez. Howard completed 19 of 27 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns, which has earned him a start on Saturday.

Out wide, Ben Sinnott grabbed seven receptions for 89 yards and two scores. Deuce Vaughn also reeled in eight catches and a TD. Vaughn ran for 106 yards on the ground too. K-State’s running game is 27th in the nation and West Virginia’s rush defense isn’t great. Expect the Wildcats to try and exploit that. Especially Vaughn.

West Virginia Betting Outlook

It’s do-or-die for the Mountaineers if they want to salvage a distraught 2022 season. They need to win back-to-back games to even come bowl eligible and save Neal Brown’s job, who is on the hot seat. A 4-6 record is by no means good enough for West Virginia. There have been some bright moments offensively for this team, but they’re struggling to stop opponents.

As mentioned the run defense is lackluster, but the pass defense is even worse, ranking 231st with 268 yards allowed per game. The key is to not only stop Vaughn on the ground but try to limit Howard, who was flourishing last weekend. For the Mountaineers, QB Garrett Greene looked solid in the victory against the Sooners, taking over for the struggling JT Daniels. It remains to be seen if Greene starts, but he should. Also, it’s important to note West Virginia plays a mile better at home. That atmosphere should help.

Kansas State vs West Virginia Prediction

You can look at the history which is favoring West Virginia, but I personally think Kansas State’s offense is too much for the Mountaineers. The Wildcats will cover.
