Take a look at the National Championship odds and it quickly becomes clear Ohio State is right where they belong. Three performances in particular from the win over the Badgers have me confident in my decision to bet on the Buckeyes to win it all.

Chase Young has Entered the Heisman Conversation

Chase Young has proven himself to be the most dominant player in college football this season. Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt from the Fox broadcast made sure to point that out several times, with Johnson mentioning he has a Heisman vote and as of right now it’s going to Young.

The edge rusher lived in the Badgers back field all game long finishing with four sacks, five tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. It’s important to note, these numbers came against Wisconsin who was ranked 13th entering the game and known for having a top notch offensive line. Whether or not Young wins the Heisman or is the top pick in the NFL draft is almost irrelevant, he’s going to be the biggest force in college football on the defensive end no matter what.

J.K. Dobbins Proves he Can Shoulder the Load

Justin Fields had a good day with the heavy rain in Columbus, but it quickly became apparent this was going to be an old school ground and pound affair. RB J.K. Dobbins proved he’s more than capable of leading Ohio State if that’s the style they need to play, finishing the game with 221 total yards and two touchdowns.

Think Dobbins had a little extra motivation in this one? All the talk coming in was about how great RB Jonathan Taylor for Wisconsin was. Well, the Badgers back was held to 52 yards on 20 carries and mustered very little on the day. It was a testament to the defense, yes, but also a reminder the best back in the country may just be the other #2 wearing Scarlet & Grey.

Chris Olave Shows he’s a Threat on the Big Stage

Ohio State goes at least five deep on the wide receiver depth chart and depending on the game, it can be tough to identify who the true go to player is. That all seems to change in big games when Chris Olave elevates his play. Against Wisconsin he finished the day with a team-high seven receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

While Olave is fairly consistent, it seems like he saves his biggest performances for the biggest stages. Last year he had two touchdowns against in the rivalry game against Michigan in the regular season finale and followed that up with a score in the Big 10 championship versus Northwestern. Having a wide receiver who loves the spotlight gives Ohio State one more game breaking weapon which could come in handy as the opposition improves down the stretch.

Elite teams can beat you in a number of different ways and Ohio State is proving to be very capable of doing just that. My recommendation would be to bet on the Buckeyes before the odds move even further.
