Oklahoma needs a rebound performance and they need one bad after losing to Kansas State last week to drop from #3 to #18 in the AP poll.

The reality is even a perfect record the rest of the way may not be enough for the Sooners. One thing is for certain though, any other loss and they can definitely kiss their hopes of a College Football Playoff birth goodbye.

The Oklahoma vs Iowa State odds will show you that the Sooners have a great chance to get back on a winning track. Let’s take a look at both teams performances early in the season to help determine how this game will play out.

Sooners Collapse in 4th Quarter vs Kansas State

Chalk this loss up to an inexperienced quarterback failing his first true test. Oklahoma lost 38-35 but was outscored 17-0 in the 4th quarter. Spencer Rattler had 387 yards passing and four touchdowns but also threw four interceptions.

His inability to get the offense rolling in the final frame was the difference.

The loss was especially surprising when you consider Kansas State almost didn’t play the game. The program had been hit by COVID-19 and the Wildcats were unsure if they were able to field a team. Not only did they have enough players to play, they had enough players to win.

They took advantage of Rattler playing in his first tight game and ended up walking away with an unlikely victory.

Cyclones Have Been Inconsistent Through 2 Games

Iowa State earned their first win of the season defeating TCU by 3 points. It was a must needed character win for a team coming off a 17-point loss to Louisiana.

The team has shown flashes of competence through two games, but nothing that closely resembles consistency. Running back Breece Hall is the biggest threat on offense and appears to be their only route to wins.

He compiled 155 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the victory, and now has 6.8 yards per carry on the season.

Hall playing at an elite level and a confidence building performance against the Horned Frogs may not be enough for Iowa State. They are now 0-6 in their last six games against the spread.

They constantly underperform and that is not a character trait you want to bring in against a powerhouse like Oklahoma that is looking to turn their season around.

Trust Lincoln Riley on Saturday

There’s a reason NFL teams line up every offseason for a chance to lure Lincoln Riley to their city. He’s one of the best coaches in college football and he is fully capable of helping his group rebound after last week’s disappointing performance.

Rattler has four touchdown passes in each of his first two games as starter. Expect a similarly explosive game against Iowa State. If he can limit the turnovers, this should be an easy bounce back win for the Sooners.

If you’re feeling confident or working with some profit in your bank roll, consider a parlay with the over as well. Once things start rolling for Oklahoma it’s unlikely they’ll take their foot off the gas.

The Picks: Oklahoma Sooners -7.5 (-109) + Over 62.5 (-110)
