Big Game at The Big House

Ohio State blasted #7 Michigan State 56-7 on Saturday in Columbus as C.J. Stroud threw for six touchdowns and nearly 400 yards in the first half.

Stroud finished 32 for 35 for 432 yards against the Spartans, who have allowed more passing yards than any team in the country. With Ohio State winning in a blowout, Stroud was removed from the game by coach Ryan Day late in the third quarter.

Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III, the nation’s leading rusher, was held to 25 yards on six carries.

Michigan tuned up for the showdown in Ann Arbor by rolling to a 59-18 victory over Maryland on the road. Highlighting the rout was Mike Sainristil’s one-handed catch in the end zone for a second-quarter touchdown.

Hassan Haskins scored two TDs and Donovan Edwards had 10 catches for 170 yards and a touchdown for the Wolverines.

Ohio State has won eight straight games in the series and Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has beaten the Buckeyes. While Ohio State is playing as well as any team in the country, this is a different Michigan team and should keep things close.

The Pick: Michigan +7.5 (-110)

Bedlam Could Set Up Bedlam II

Caleb Williams passed for a touchdown and ran for another as Oklahoma held off Iowa State 28-21 on Saturday while Jalen Redmond returned a fumble for a score.

Kennedy Brooks ran for 115 yards the Sooners.

Iowa State got the ball at its 14-yard line, trailing 28-21 with two minutes left. The Cyclones drove to the Oklahoma 21, but Pat Fields intercepted a pass by Brock Purdy with 15 seconds remaining.

Oklahoma State blanked Texas Tech 23-0 on the road, handing the Red Raiders their first shutout loss since 1997. It was the Cowboys’ first shutout on the road since 1985.

The Cowboys have allowed only one offensive touchdown over their past four games. Oklahoma held Texas Tech to 108 total yards, including a 25-yard pass on the final drive.

Spencer Sanders threw a touchdown and ran for another score and Tanner Brown kicked three field goals for Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma has beaten Oklahoma State six times in a row and in 16 of the last 18 games. However, look for the Cowboys defense to give Williams fits in this one.

The Pick: Oklahoma State -3 (-110)

Alabama Overvalued?

Alabama has proven it can cover just about any spread during the Nick Saban ERA, so being 19.5-point road favorites over archrival Auburn doesn’t seem like a big deal.

However, the Crimson Tide has not come close to covering in its last two SEC games. They beat LSU 20-14 as 29.5-point favorites Nov. 6 and Arkansas 42-35 as 20.5-point choices Saturday. Both were in Tuscaloosa.

Even though Auburn has lost three games in a row, this number seems high considering Alabama’s recent struggles.
