Texas A&M has opened as +3 road favorites at Auburn in Week 14 as they continue their quest for a playoff berth. The Aggies returned from a three-week layoff this past weekend to knock off the defending champs, LSU.

Auburn got destroyed by the best team in the country this past weekend, but they’ve played the Aggies well in recent years and have clear upset potential for this matchup.

Aggies Eye CFP Berth

Texas A&M remains in the hunt for a playoff spot after taking down reigning NCAA champion LSU by a 20-7 score in Week 13. The Aggies turned in a stellar defensive effort, limiting the Tigers to just 36 yards rushing and a single TD that came in garbage-time.

6-1 Texas A&M will need some outside help in order to make the CFP, but they’ll remain in the conversation as long as they take care of business in their final two games. The Aggies have won five straight games since a 52-24 loss to Alabama in Week 5 and are averaging 35.8 points on offense during the streak.

Tigers Decimated in Iron Bowl

Auburn pulled off the upset in the 2019 Iron Bowl against Alabama, but it wasn’t so easy this time around. The Tigers were destroyed 42-13 by the Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Week 13. The Tigers failed to get anything going on offense, as QB Bo Nix threw two picks and no player gained more than 60 yards.

Auburn’s running game had been trending in the right direction heading into the Alabama game, but that momentum has come to a halt after they were held to just 120 rushing yards by the Crimson Tide. Top running back Tank Bigsby is reportedly dealing with a hip injury and managed 39 yards on 11 carries against Alabama after being listed as a game-time decision.

Head-to-Head History

Auburn enters this matchup with history in their favor. The Tigers have won three straight games against the Aggies, including a 28-20 victory at College Station last year. Both Auburn QB Bo Nix and Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond were under center in the 2019 matchup, with the Tigers’ pivot coming out on top.

While series momentum is in favor of Auburn, this matchup is typically played fairly tight. The last game played in Auburn saw the Aggies blow a 24-14 lead and lose 28-24 despite holding a distinct edge in time of possession.

Will The Line Move?

The Aggies may be on a five-game winning streak, but their offensive output against LSU wasn’t impressive. They managed just 20 points against a weak Tigers defense that Auburn hung 48 points on earlier this season. QB Kellen Mond didn’t look good in Week 13, completing just 32.4% of his passes for 105 yards.

Considering Alabama is the clear number one team in the country, bettors aren’t likely to discount the Tigers too much. This is the same Crimson Tide powerhouse that decimated the Aggies 52-24 earlier in the year.

This game has potential upset written all over it, so expect some public money to come in on the Tigers. This game could become close to a pick’em by the time Saturday rolls around.
