The San Francisco 49ers huge Week 6 win over the Los Angeles Rams has them continuing their ascent in the NFL futures.

For most of the offseason, the 49ers were third in the NFC West odds. At different points of the summer, they were anywhere from +420 to +520 to win the division.

As the season neared, they weren’t far off from Seattle in divisional odds, but all the while, the Rams were absolutely the favorite to repeat as NFC West champions.

Things had been moving in the direction of San Francisco since the season started, though, and prior to Sunday’s showdown, both the 49ers and Rams had +150 odds. As Los Angeles has skidded to 3-3, San Francisco is the NFC’s only remaining undefeated team.

The Seahawks still linger at second in the division, thanks to a huge comeback win at Cleveland on Sunday. However, with a valuable road win, the 49ers have now completely flipped the script on Los Angeles.

San Francisco’s Super Bowl odds have been on a consistent climb. Prior to Week 6, they were at +1400, and that was already a huge leap from their preseason number.

For a large chunk of the offseason, the 49ers Super Bowl odds hovered in the +3000 to +4000 range, and the number even got as high as +4500 in early September.

Are the 49ers a Smart Super Bowl Bet?

The two teams with the best odds to win the Super Bowl are absolutely deserving. The Patriots continue to be the Patriots, that is seemingly a tale as old as time. The Saints have been especially impressive considering they haven’t lost a game with Teddy Bridgewater as their starter, after losing Drew Brees.

They haven’t been trampling teams, but have piled up impressive wins over Seattle, Dallas, and Jacksonville on Sunday.

Beyond those two, however, it’s wide open.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have not looked themselves lately. The Packers offer nice value with Aaron Rodgers at +1200, but they’re beatable even when Rodgers is at his best. The Eagles are injury-riddled and they’ve been very inconsistent this season.

There aren’t any unbeatable teams that stand in the way of the 49ers and a Super Bowl. They’re finally realizing the potential that many thought was possible in pairing Jimmy Garappolo and Kyle Shanahan. The cast of running backs, with Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert, and a finally healthy Tevin Coleman, have been very productive. Breida is averaging 5.8 yards per carry, and Mostert follows close behind with 5.5.

The 49er defense has held up its end of the bargain as well. They’re allowing only 12.8 points per game, and they’ve forced 11 turnovers through 5 games.

Through the remainder of October, San Francisco has two very winnable games against Washington and Arizona, along with a huge matchup at home against Carolina.

It’s extremely possible that this team is 8-0 by the end of the month, and that game against the Panthers could raise 49er stock in a big way. While the number is still at +1000, San Francisco’s Super Bowl odds certainly present value.
