49ers Still Favored to Win NFC West After Loss to Seahawks
- The Seattle Seahawks edged the San Francisco 49ers 27-24 on Monday Night Football
- The two teams will meet in Week 17 in Seattle
- The 49ers still have the inside track in terms of winning the division
The Seattle Seahawks edged the San Francisco 49ers 27-24 in an epic affair on Monday Night Football to hand the 49ers their first loss of the season. As good as San Francisco has been, this now changes the landscape in the NFC with San Fran at 8-1 and Seattle at 8-2.
After Week 9, San Fran were -280 favorites ton win the division, while Seattle had average odds of +310. Those odds have now tightened up and we’ll take a look at which team is the best bet to win the NFC West at this point.
2019 NFC West Odds
Team | Odds |
---|---|
San Francisco 49ers | -250 |
Seattle Seahawks | +225 |
Los Angeles Rams | +1200 |
Arizona Cardinals | +50000 |
Odds as of Nov. 12.
Seahawks Outlast 49ers
In one of the best games we’ve seen all season, the Seahawks managed to outlast the 49ers on the road in a 27-24 win. There were a lot of ugly plays by both offenses (seven turnovers in total) and a lot of great plays by the defenses, but in the end, the Seahawks did just enough to get the win.

This is a game that really could have gone either way as the 49ers missed a game-winning 47-yard field goal with 3:10 left in overtime. At the end of the day, it felt like the Seahawks had an MVP at quarterback and he led the way, while 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was a bit shaky.
49ers Upcoming Schedule is Tricky
One of the biggest concerns with the 49ers futures (including their NFC West odds) is the fact that their schedule is about to get a lot tougher. They’ll host the Arizona Cardinals this week and they’re a 13.5-point favorite in that game. After that, though, they’ll host Green Bay, visit Baltimore and visit New Orleans.

While the 49ers only have one loss on the season right now, that’s liable to change as the Packers, Ravens and Saints are a combined 22-6. Looking back through their schedule, it does look like they’ve mostly beat up on bad teams (aside from Carolina), so we’ll get to know more about this squad in the next month.
Seahawks Have Tough Schedule Too
Many people are aware – and have pointed out – that the next four weeks will be San Francisco’s toughest stretch of the season. At the same time, it’s likely to be the Seahawks’ toughest stretch too.

Seattle is on a bye now but after that, their next four games are at Philadelphia, home to Minnesota, at the Los Angeles Rams and at Carolina. All of those teams have winning records and three of those four games are on the road.
What’s the Best Bet?
This is a tough call as these two teams will meet in Week 17 in Seattle. That game will likely decide the winner of this division. At this point, I’d slightly lean with San Francisco because they’re a game up, they have one more home game and they’re upcoming schedule looks slightly easier than Seattle. That’s the way I’d lean as of right now.
