The Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans once played an NFL playoff game forever labeled the Music City Miracle. This one might be in the running for Music City Miracle II.

The original Music City Miracle featured a miraculous change-of-direction kick return on the game’s final play. This one featured almost as many twists and turns just to get to opening kickoff.

It wasn’t certain until Monday that the game would be played at all.

Riddled by COVID-19, Tennessee are 3.5-point underdogs in the Bills vs Titans odds as they face 4-0 AFC East-leading Buffalo.

Something Has To Give

The Titans (3-0) and Bills are among five unbeaten teams left in the NFL. The last two seasons, the final unbeaten team standing – the 2018 Los Angeles Rams (9-0) and the 2019 San Francisco 49ers (8-0) – both reached the Super Bowl.

Buffalo is looking to begin a season 5-0 for the first time since 1991. The Bills went to the Super Bowl that season.

The Bills are also seeking their first five-game winning streak since 2004. Buffalo is also trying to score 30 points for the fourth straight game the 2004 season.

Tennessee is looking to start a year 4-0 for the time season since 2008. That year, Tennessee opened 10-0.

Titans Shut Down

The COVID-19 pandemic did what no NFL team has been able to achieve this season – it stopped the Titans in their tracks.

Two dozen Tennessee players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 over the past two weeks. The team’s training facility was shut down Sept. 29. Last week’s game with the Pittsburgh Steelers was rescheduled.

This game was moved from Sunday to Tuesday. As a result, Buffalo’s Week 6 game with the Kansas City Chiefs is shuffling from Thursday to Monday.

This will be just the third Tuesday game in league history. Weather delays caused the other two Tuesday contests.

Tennessee held a 90-minute indoor walk-through practice on Sunday. It was the team’s first official practice since Sept. 27.

Who’s Out?

Two Tennessee starters on offense – left tackle Taylor Lewan (shoulder) and wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee) – are listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game. Three-time Pro Bowler Lewan was limited at Sunday’s practice but Brown was a full participant.

Second-string receivers Corey Davis and Adam Humphries are both on COVID-19 IR, so Brown’s presence would make a big difference to the Tennessee passing attack.

The Titans activated long snapper Beau Brinkley, starting nose tackle DaQuan Jones and backup tackle Isaiah Wilson from COVID-19 IR.

For the Bills, starting weakside linebacker Matt Milano (pectoral) is out. Three other starters – cornerback Tre’Davious White (back), wide receiver John Brown (calf) and right guard Cody Ford (groin) – are listing as questionable, as is kick returner Andre Roberts (ankle).

Pay Those Bills

Everything points to a resounding Buffalo victory in this matchup. Football is such a timing and precision game and how can anyone expect the Titans to locate any sort of rhythm with such little prep time? And that doesn’t even address the issue of the team’s conditioning.

The Bills aren’t 4-0 by accident. This is a solid football team. Buffalo’s also in the top 10 of the NFL at stopping the run (101 yards per game). That eliminates Tennessee’s simplest gameplan – keep handing the ball to Derrick Henry.

Pick: Buffalo Bills -3.5 (-110).
