Can Garoppolo find Success in Minnesota?

The last time these two met came during last year’s preseason where Minnesota came out victorious, 32-31. However, Jimmy G was not a part of the 49ers, nor was Kirk Cousins with Minnesota.

The Vikings’ last five games in 2017, including playoffs, saw them give up 352, 294, 178, 130 and 113 passing yards to opposing QBs.

On the season, Minnesota ranked 2nd against the pass, allowing just 192.4 yards through the air per game.

Garoppolo could be in for a long day against the Vikes. However, his pass attempts could see an increase considering starting RB Jerick McKinnon will not be available all season.

Can Brady Overcome a Lack of Offensive Weapons?

These teams met last September (Week 3), in what turned out to be a shootout, which New England won 36-33 at home.

Tom Brady and Deshaun Watson went back and forth all game with Brady finishing 25/35 for 378 yards and five TDs.

Brady threw for 378 yards against the Texans in Week 3 of the 2017 NFL season

Looking at the Texans’ past five regular season games in 2017, they allowed 114, 226, 326, 314 and 150 yards to opposing QBs. On the season Houston ranked 24th against the pass, allowing 237.4 yards per game.

Brady will also be missing some weapons with Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks no longer with the team and Julian Edelman suspended.

Best Bet for More Passing Yards in Week 1

My handicap of this prop comes down to each player’s opposition more than the individual player.

Jimmy G will travel on the road against one of the toughest defenses in the league, who have now had a whole offseason to prepare for him.

If the Patriots and Texans game is anything like their matchup in 2017, Brady could be in for a big day at home. Win or lose, if the Texans can score enough points once again, Brady will be forced to air it out and will put up some solid passing numbers.

In the past five seasons Brady’s lowest total for passing yards in his first game of the season was 249 and it came on the road. He’s averaged 320 at home in his first game the past three years.

Best Bet: No (Tom Brady) -200
