When the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs were toppled from the ranks of the NFL’s unbeaten by the Las Vegas Raiders, people stood up and took notice.
When the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills were bumped from the unbeaten list by a team that had practiced once this month, people stared in disbelief. Then they probably rushed to get a bet down on Kansas City.
The Chiefs travel to Buffalo to play the Bills on Monday night (Oct. 19th, 5:00 pm ET) in a game that was moved back from its original Thursday date due to ongoing issues with COVID-19.
Kansas City opened as three-point road favorites. After NFL fans got done watching the Tennessee Titans dismantle the Bills 42-16 on Tuesday, it didn’t take long for the Chiefs vs Bills odds to grow to KC -3.5.

It’s the third time in five home games that Buffalo has been an underdog. The Bills are 4-7 against the spread as a home underdog since 2017.
Kansas City is 4-3 ATS as a road favorite since 2019.
Dismembered by the Titans
Buffalo’s glorious launch to the 2020 season was sunk in what can only be described as a second Music City Miracle. This miraculous victory was much quicker in its arrival. A Tennessee squad put into drydock after 24 COVID-19 positives among Titans players and staff played for the first time in 16 days. They had practiced once since Sept. 27.
Yet they absolutely dismantled Buffalo. This move by Titans running back Derrick Henry pretty much summed up Buffalo’s night.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen was intercepted more times on Tuesday by Malcolm Butler (twice) than all opponents through the first four games (once).
Last season, Buffalo’s defense was second-best in the NFL. This season, the Bills defense is second-rate.
They came into the night allowing 280.3 passing yards per game. Titans QB Ryan Tannehill torched them for 195 yards and three TDs, as well as 42 rushing yards.
Chiefs Pay the Penalty
Penalties were a huge factor in KC’s 40-32 loss to Las Vegas. The Chiefs were flagged ten times for 94 yards. Twice, infractions wiped out Kansas City TDs.

On defense, chunk plays hurt the Chiefs. KC allowed six passes that gained at least 23 yards. Three of them went for at least 59 yards.
More COVID Concerns
The Chiefs put fullback Anthony Sherman on the reserve/COVID-19 list. According to reports, it’s due to exposure to a COVID-positive person. Expectations are KC wide receiver Sammy Watkins will miss 1-2 games with a hamstring issue.

Buffalo was minus starting cornerback Tre’Davious White (back) against the Titans and it showed. Tannehill effectively attacked backup CB Taron Johnson and don’t think Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes didn’t notice.
Three other starters – weakside linebacker Matt Milano (pectoral), right guard Quinton Spain (foot), and wideout John Brown (calf) – were also out against Tennessee.

The Bills don’t have the same track record for rallying.
