Chiefs vs Raiders Odds, Lines, and Spread for Week 11 Sunday Night Football

The Kansas City Chiefs will be aiming to atone for their only defeat over the past 12 months when they visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football as 7.5-point road favorites in the NFL Week 12 odds.

Winners of four straight, the Chiefs return from last week’s bye leading the way atop the AFC West standings with an 8-1 record, two games up on second-place Las Vegas. The Raiders opened their current 4-1 run with a stunning 40-32 upset win in Kansas City in Week 5. However, Las Vegas has struggled to produce consistent results at their new home, under the dome at Allegiant Stadium, where they have stumbled to a 2-2 record this season.

Line Movement and SNF Trends

The point spread has moved slightly in Kansas City’s direction since opening at -7, climbing to -7.5, while the total has made modest gains to 56.5 after opening at 55. This contest marks the first Sunday Night Football appearance of the season for Kansas City, and the Raiders’ first appearance since 2017.

Surprisingly, the Chiefs have struggled on Sunday nights, losing outright in four of six, including two of three on the road. Kansas City has also tended to give up big points totals in SNF appearances, surrendering 31 or more points in four of their past seven.

The Raiders have fared only marginally better, posting wins in three of their past five Sunday night outings to end a stretch of four straight losses. However, the team currently rides a four-game win streak in prime time, with three of those victories coming by double-digit margins.

Raiders In The Hunt

Winners by a 37-12 margin over Denver last week, the Raiders enter Week 11 with their hopes of winning the AFC West very much alive. The Las Vegas defense impressed against Denver, picking off Broncos passer Drew Lock on four occasions, and have allowed just three TD passes over the past three outings.

And while the team struggled with a positive COVID-19 test earlier this week, seven of the 10 players who had subsequently been placed on the COVID-19 list have been activated for Sunday’s contest, including safety Johnathan Abram, defensive tackles Maliek Collins, Johnathan Hankins and Kendal Vickers, defensive end Arden Key and cornerback Isaiah Johnson.

Can Carr Duplicate Huge Performance vs KC?

Quarterback Derek Carr has been steady, but has not come close to duplicating his performance against the Chiefs last month, when he connected on three scoring passes and compiled a season-best 347 passing yards. Carr has topped 165 passing yards just once in the four games since, and has failed to connect on a pass longer than 25 yards in two of three contests.

Carr has also tossed multiple interceptions in four of six dates with the Chiefs, and will be hard pressed to duplicate the career-best 11.2 yards per pass attempt he recorded in Kansas City last month. However, Raiders rushers have picked up the slack, averaging over 190 yards per game and scoring six times over their past three contests, including four scores last week against Denver.

Unheralded Chiefs Defense Getting it Done on the Road

The Chiefs’ offense needed to play catch-up early on in a 33-31 win over Carolina two weeks ago, but has scored 32 or more points in four of five outings. That steadiness extends to contests away from Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs are 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS since November 2019, and have allowed just 16.3 points per game.

However, Kansas City has disappointed as big road chalk, going 6-8 ATS in its past 14 while favored by seven or more. And while the team has won four in a row when playing under a dome, each of those wins have come by four or fewer points.

Chiefs Feeling Sense of Urgency

Faced with a daunting stretch-run schedule that features road dates in Tampa Bay, Miami, and New Orleans, the Chiefs are highly motivated to put some distance between themselves and the Raiders.

If they can avoid giving up the early lead, and do an effective job of keeping Derek Carr in check, they can all but end the Raiders’ hopes of a divisional title. But 7.5 points is a lot to cover against Las Vegas, in what promises to be a high-scoring affair.
