  • The Dallas Cowboys are riding a four-game win streak into Foxborough when they battle the New England Patriots this Sunday, October 17th
  • Dallas flexed their collective muscle at the New York Giants last Sunday beating them like rag dolls 44-20

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys (4-1) head to Foxboro, Massachusetts to battle the New England Patriots (2-3) Sunday. Kick-off from Gillette Stadium is scheduled for 4:25 pm ET on CBS. Weather-wise, mild temperatures in the low 60s are expected with minimal wind and no precipitation.

The Cowboys embarrassed the New York Giants 44-20 last week behind a big effort from Dak Prescott. The signal-caller is fully back from his injury last season as he threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns on the day. Meanwhile, the Patriots, took the full game for them to take down the Houston Texans 25-22 in a game that shouldn’t have been that close.

This line has been hovering right around Cowboys -3.5 all week and it’s still there at the time of writing. The total has sat right at 50 after we saw some 48s and 48.5s earlier in the week. As always, there are a ton of player props to go over which we will look into now.

Mac Jones: Completion Guy

Taking over for Tom Brady has to be the most impossible challenge anyone can be asked to do. Sure Cam Newton technically took over for Brady last year but everyone knew he wasn’t the permanent solution. Mac Jones was drafted to be “the guy” moving forward and so far, he has been pretty good.

The good news is, he’s only getting better. He definitely has the handshakes down.

One thing that’s noticeable is that the Patriots don’t have Jones throwing the ball down the field much. The plan seems to be short passes and his ADOT reflects that since it’s lower than 31 other NFL quarterbacks. Dink and dunk seems to be the MO in New England at the moment.

The dink and dunk method should work in this matchup with the Dallas Cowboys as they have one of the better run defenses in the NFL this season. Only two teams in the NFL have given up fewer rushing yards to running backs this season than Dallas. The Patriots have already played two of the top four run defenses (DVOA) in the NFL this season (Buccaneers, Saints) and Jones completed at least 30 passes in both of those games.

On top of the dink and dunk offense, we may have game script on our side too. Dallas’s offense is top-5 in the NFL as well so they should be able to get the Patriots to chase points. On the season, only three defenses have given up more completions than the Cowboys so they are good at getting teams to be one-dimensional. Mac Jones should complete at least 26 passes Sunday.

  • The Pick: Mac Jones Over 25.5 Completions (-115) wager 0.115 units to win 0.10 units
  • 2021 NFL Player Props Record: 6-9, -3.60 Units

Who Scores?

One rule in betting football is we have to take a touchdown scorer prop. Why? Because it’s always fun to have a touchdown prop in your pocket and that’s scientific fact.

And for the past two weeks, it’s been not only fun but profitable to have a Hunter Henry touchdown prop.

Just seven teams have allowed more touchdown receptions to tight ends than the Cowboys and two of those teams have played an extra game. It makes sense given that Dallas’ defense has only given up one rushing touchdown to running backs. When teams get into the red zone, they opt to throw. If that happens this week, Hunter Henry will catch a touchdown for the third straight game.

  • Pick: Hunter Henry – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+180) – Wager 0.10 units to win 0.18 units
  • 2021 Touchdown Scorer prop record: 5-10, -0.345 units
