  • Thursday Night Football’s Week 3 game is an all-Florida matchup between the Dolphins and Jaguars
  • We landed just one bet in Week 2, losing 1.575 units and we’re down 4.075 units on the season
  • Read below for our best bets for TNF Week 3

Two weeks in, and things are … uneven.

We hit just one wager in our Week 2 Bengals vs Browns prop bets, and watching Odell Beckham make his fourth catch in the third quarter and stay under was harrowing enough. With the Bengals playing catch up all night, Joe Burrow crossed 61 attempts, killing our under passing yards bet. And just for good measure, AJ Green didn’t get five catches and Joe Mixon didn’t find the endzone. Joy.

Thankfully, all is not lost. Week 3 with the Miami Dolphins visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars on TNF.

It’s going to be a warm and humid 78 degrees when they kickoff at 8:20pm, with just a slight chance of rain.

Visit our Dolphins vs Jaguars odds page for all your game betting needs. For now, let’s make some hay with the prop bets below.

Far From Gardner Variety

There’s still time to “Tank for Trevor”, but while franchise-pivot-to-be Trevor Lawrence is at Clemson awaiting his upcoming NFL destination, Gardner Minshew continues to build the case that he’s not only a viable starting QB, but the one Jacksonville should pin its hopes to.

Presumed to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this year, Minshew alone has made them at least frisky. It’s a small sample, but they’re currently tied for eighth in the NFL in scoring. The 2019 sixth-round pick is coming off his second-best passing game as a pro, tossing for 339 yards and three scores against a legitimately good Tennessee defense.

He welcomes in a struggling Dolphins’ team that is trying to avoid an 0-3 start two years in a row. Miami’s defense is woeful, surrendering 276.5 yards passing per game, and they are coming off a 417-yard passing performance surrendered to Josh Allen and the Bills.

To make matters worse, prized free agent cornerback Byron Jones is out with a groin injury. All signs point to a big game from Minshew and surpassing that yards total.

The pick: OVER 262.5 yards passing (1 unit to win 0.89 units)

Stop Gaskin About Miami Running Backs

Miami wanted to desperately establish a run game, so they brought in veteran Jordan Howard and speedster Matt Breida this offseason. But it’s rookie seventh-rounder Myles Gaskin who seems to be taking the feature back reins, at least right now.

And while 86 yards on 16 carries in two games doesn’t exactly scream franchise back, his dual threat ability makes him an awfully enticing wager as a receiver.

Perhaps a regression is coming, but there’s nothing to indicate the Dolphins won’t continue to use Gaskin for a Ryan Fitzpatrick safety valve in the passing game. In Week 1 against the Patriots, Gaskin was targeted four times, making four catches for 26 yards. Against the Bills, he was targeted seven times, making six grabs for 46 yards.

While Jacksonville limited Titans running backs to a total of two receptions last week, the Jags also gave up 14 receptions to running backs in their Week 1 win over the Colts. While you never know about running-back-by-committee rotations, both the receptions and yards totals are low enough to be confident in both. We’ll go with the yardage.

The pick: Gaskin OVER 16 yards receiving (0.5 units for 0.445 units)

Who Finds Paydirt?

Our good friends at DraftKings dug up some stats that should be of interest for you if you are picking a TD scorer for this one. Though he is dinged up, Jaguars wideout DJ Chark has scored a touchdown in three straight September outings at TIAA Bank Field and could make it four. On the other side of the formation, Keelan Cole — who happens to be Minshew’s top target so far this season — has caught a TD in three straight games.

Meanwhile, Jordan Howard has scored a major in seven straight games against AFC competition. And DeVante Parker has scored at least a touchdown in four straight games, following a Dolphins’ loss the previous week.

When in doubt, always go with the best value.

The pick: Howard to score a TD (1 unit to win 2.85 units)
