The bad news? Had you bet the Eagles in July they were paying +800 and those days appear to be firmly in the rear view mirror.

The good news? They are every bit as good as the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints, and should be considered a threat to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. There is a potential for a big win here with the Eagles for three key reasons.

Eagles Elite Offense

Nick Foles is gone to Jacksonville and Carson Wentz received a vote of confidence in the neighborhood of $144 million over 4 years with $107.9 million guaranteed. The Eagles front office brought DeSean Jackson back home in the off-season as a vertical threat they lacked last year, as he led the NFL with 18.9 yards per reception in 2018.

Adding Jackson to a core that includes Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery should make Philadelphia one of the most potent offenses in the league.

Remember The Name Miles Sanders

Following the injury to Jay Ajayi early last season, the Eagles really struggled to run the ball consistently, and addressed the need by selecting Penn State’s Miles Sanders in the second round of the draft. If he’s able to pick up pass protection quickly, his speed and agility should see him competing with fellow newcomer Jordan Howard for the majority of the carries in Doug Pederson’s offense.

Cox & Jackson Best DT Combo In Football?

Fletcher Cox is one of the most dominant lineman in the NFL and now he’s joined at the tackle position by free agent signing Malik Jackson. After signing a 3-year, $30 million deal, the former Jacksonville Jaguars star pairs with Cox to provide one of the more formidable fronts in the NFC.

With the front seven producing a consistent rush, it should help out the secondary, where the Eagles have been weakest the past few seasons. The rumblings out of camp have been that Jaylen Mills has taken the next step and become more consistent as a top corner, but it still remains to be seen once games begin for real.

I think it’s a three horse race in the NFC between the Rams, Saints and Eagles. The Eagles present the most value right now, and with Wentz expected to be fully healthy he should put up an MVP-caliber season while leading Philadelphia back to the Super Bowl.

PICK: Philadelphia Eagles (+550)
