FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland will be the site of Thursday night’s Week 2 matchup between the New York Giants and Washington Football Team. The kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 pm ET on NFL Network.
The Giants come into this one after getting beatdown 27-13 in front of their home fans by the Denver Broncos last week. The game wasn’t as close as the score indicates as New York scored a touchdown on the last play of the game. Washington lost a much closer game 20-16 to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 after leading going into the fourth quarter.
The Football Team opened at -3 but have been bet up to 3.5 at some spots after taking in only 16% of the early wagers according to SBD. The total has fallen off of a cliff all the way down to 40.5 after opening at 43 at most books. As always, there are plenty of player props to consider.

Sterling Shepard Is In a Breakout Year
Sterling Shepard has always had the talent to excel in the NFL. His quarterbacks have obviously noticed it because he’s seen at least 105 targets in each of the two seasons he was healthy enough to play all 16 games. He’s an electric route runner who’s dangerous with the ball in his hands but he’s also a man of the people.
Sterling Shepard on the frustration of Giants fans:
"These people pay their hard-earned money to come see winning football. That's what this franchise is all about, is winning… it's been frustrating the past few years and I understand their frustration." pic.twitter.com/SVrIx6hHGh

There are a lot of mouths to feed in New York at the moment but I think Shepard will end up leading this team in targets. In Week 1, he paced the team with nine targets hauling in seven of them for 11 yards and a touchdown on the day. He certainly appeared to be the alpha even though Kenny Golladay is out there running routes for New York these days.
Game script always plays a role in these props but Shepard looks safe here either way. Obviously he benefited in Week 1 from the fact that the Giants were trailing for the entire second half but he had 60 receiving yards when it was only 17-7 early in the third quarter. He didn’t need the blowout to get home on this number.
The Football Team has a very good defense but one area they struggled last week was covering wide receivers. In fact, only one team in the entire NFL gave up more receiving yards to the position than Washington. Granted they were tasked with keeping up with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams but Sterling Shepard and Kenny Golladay present similar issues. Shepard is a good bet to go over his receiving yards number this week.

Who Scores?
You have to be very careful when betting touchdowns props because there is almost never any true value on the lines. They are very similar to home run props in baseball although they are not quite as much of a money pit. Still, they are fun to bet and every now and then we can find one that is worth the risk. This week it’s Logan Thomas.

At +180, this isn’t the worst deal in the world. The Giants just proved they couldn’t cover the tight end position last week giving up 10 receptions for 85 yards and a score to the Broncos. They should have similar issues with Thomas this week.
This move is more about the Giants’ run defense than anything. They only gave up one rushing touchdown last week and it was from 70 yards out. They held tight near the goal line so if and when Washington gets down there, they may need to throw it in. Thomas led the team last season with seven targets from inside the 10-yard line. He should get a look or two Thursday night.
- Pick: Logan Thomas – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+180) – Wager .1 unit to win .18 units
- Touchdown Scorer prop record 0-3 -.3 units
