  • The Indianapolis Colts (1-3) visit the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football to wrap up Week 5
  • Week 4 Record: 2-3, -1.5 units; 3-10, -8.4 units
  • Kickoff is set for 8:15 pm EST from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore

While it wasn’t pretty and not without drama afterwards, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens knocked the Denver Broncos from perfection in Week 4. In the process they moved to 3-1, tied atop the AFC North.

The Indianapolis Colts meanwhile, beat up on a shorthanded Dolphins team. The Indy defense took advantage of a number of questionable decisions by Jacoby Brissett, and the fact Miami abandoned the running game. Baltimore likely won’t do that.

Kickoff is at 8:15 pm EST on Monday Night Football on ESPN, from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Baltimore comes into Monday night as heavy favorites, with the spread sitting at -6.5. Both teams are 2-2 ATS, with the total going 2-2 for each as well. The Ravens have seen the under hit in their last two games however, both on the road. One they were significantly shorthanded, and the other was at Mile High.

This will be Baltimore’s third primetime game of the season,

Baltimore’s Backs Aren’t Worth It

If you thought you had Baltimore’s backfield figured out heading into Week 4, then you were wrong.

Ty’Son Williams had looked great through two weeks. He racked up 142 yards on 22 carries (6.45 per rush) and caught five balls on six targets. Then there was the Lions game, where nothing went right for Baltimore outside of a 66-yard game-winning field goal.

Then John Harbaugh decided to scratch Williams to see what he had in Latavius Murray and Le’veon Bell.

Long story short: the only runner to trust for the Ravens is Lamar Jackson.

Jackson’s carries have gone 12, 16, seven and seven to start the season. His yardage has gone 86, 107, 58 and 28. During the first three weeks, opposing QBs had five carries against Indy’s defense with their yardage varying wildly. Lamar will undoubtedly have his chances to take off.

The attempts total is way too gaudy. Back the yards.

  • The Pick: Lamar Jackson OVER 60.5 rushing yards (-115); 1 Unit

Taylor Starting to Heat Up

Sticking with runners, one coming off the best performance of his season is Jonathan Taylor.

The second year back carried the ball 16 times against the Dolphins, totaling 103 yards. That wasn’t just a season high, but it’s the first time he crossed 70 on the ground in 2021.

Last year’s matchup with the Ravens didn’t produce encouraging results. Taylor only carried the ball six times for 27 yards and a score, mixing in two receptions for seven yards. That game didn’t see Taylor feature as the lead back though, as Jordan Wilkins rolled up 11 carries. Philip Rivers also threw it 43 times, despite Indy averaging 5.3 yards-per-carry.

The Ravens only gave up 34 yards on 10 carries to Josh Jacobs Week 1, but he was banged up and Vegas was behind from the outset. Clyde Edwards-Helaire went for 46 on 13 carries, but his quarterback is Patrick Mahomes.

But the past two weeks, D’Andre Swift (14/47/1) and Jamaal Williams (12/42/1) were able to make headway on the ground. So were Melvin Gordon (9/56) and Javonte Williams (7/48).

Taylor has gone over 50 yards in all four games, and hit the over in Weeks 3 and 4. He’ll find more success this week.

  • The Pick: Jonathan Taylor OVER 56.5 rushing yards (-110); 1 unit

Entering last week, the Colts had yet to score the first TD in any of their games. That all changed when Jonathan Taylor took one in from 23 yards out. Baltimore is 2-2 in that sense. They scored first against the Raiders and Lions, but Lamar Jackson threw a pick-six in Week 2, and Noah Fant opened the scoring in Week 4.

While the Ravens have the more explosive offense, it’s the Colts to back to open the scoring. The Ravens gave up multiple TDs on the ground in two of the first three weeks, and Week 4 against Denver was the first time a team failed to score on the ground against them.

With that in mind, double-dipping on Taylor, who’s third in the NFL in rushes inside the 20 with no TDs, is the play with Indy. He also nabbed the first TD when they faced off last year.

For Baltimore, Mark Andrews has been left high and dry when it comes to the redzone.

He’s tied with Marquise Brown for targets inside the 20 (three) but has caught just one of them. Jackson only has four passing TDs this year, but two of them have come deep in enemy territory.

It’s a far cry from last season when Andrews took in nearly 30% of Baltimore’s redzone targets. Jackson turned to him 20 times for 13 completions and four touchdowns. Andrews finally gets his first of 2021 on Monday.

  • The Pick: Jonathan Taylor to score FIRST TD (+850); 0.5 units
  • The Pick: Jonathan Taylor (+120), Mark Andrews (+130) to score ANYTIME; 0.5 units each
