At the beginning of the season, few people would’ve circled a New York Giants versus Seattle Seahawks contest as being an important duel. However, the G-Men have raced out to a sterling 6-and-1 record under new head coach Brian Daboll, while the Seahawks are 4-and-3 with Pete Carroll resurrecting a roster chalk full of impactful rookies. Read on for some Giants vs Seahawks analysis.

Both clubs were massive longshots in the Super Bowl odds at the onset of the campaign, and they’re still not among the favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy. The NFL has taken notice, however, and this game is the lone battle in Week 8 featuring a pair of teams above .500.

Giants and Seahawks Running Games Rolling

As Saquon Barkley goes, so do the Giants. The 2018 second-overall pick has been phenomenal this season, racking up the second-most yardage on the ground, while scoring four TD’s. Barkley has eclipsed at least 70 yards in all seven contests, rushing for over 110 yards on three occasions.

Quarterback Daniel Jones hasn’t been lighting the world on fire with his arm (nothing over 217 yards in any of the games), but he’s largely played mistake-free football, turning the ball over just times. He’s been great with his legs, putting up the third most yards (343) of any QB. As a team, the G-Men have the second-highest rushing yards/game.

The Seahawks have become a running juggernaut, behind rookie Kenneth Walker III, who is the favorite in offensive rookie of the year odds. Geno Smith has thrown the sixth most TD passes, and has the third-highest QB rating in the league. He wasn’t fazed when D.K. Metcalf left last week’s contest with a knee injury, leading the ‘Hawks to the upset victory over the Chargers.

The Giants are not darlings according to Pro Football Focus. Despite being 6-and-1, they are the last-ranked team (22nd on offense, 30th on defense). As for the Seahawks, they’re 13th overall (7th on offense, 25th on defense).

As for that D, they’re mightily improved the last two weeks after being torched the first five weeks. They’ve been forcing turnovers and getting huge contributions from rookie DB’s Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant. Woolen has shot all the way up to second in the defensive rookie of the year odds.

Giants vs Seahawks Injury Report

The Giants are dealing with a slew of injuries, as TE Daniel Bellinger, OL Evan Neal, WR Kenny Golladay and three others have been ruled out. DL Leonard Williams is one of three players who have been listed as questionable.

A pair of Seahawks special teamers in Nick Bellore and Penny Hart have been ruled out. Two offensive linemen in Gabe Jackson and Phil Haynes are questionable as is d-linemen Poona Ford. The big question marks are both receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who will be game-time decisions. Lockett has been dealing with a hamstring injury, and now has sore ribs on top of that, and DK has knee issues.

67% of the bets have been placed for the Giants to cover the three-point spread, with 69% of bets on the over in Giants vs Seahawks NFL betting trends, with 71% of wagers on New York to win on the moneyline.

Giants vs Seahawks Prediction

In all seven of their games, the Giants have been involved in one-score games. Typically teams can’t sustain their 6-and-1 record in such situations and continue scraping out victories.

Six of the Giants seven games have gone under the listed 44.5 number, while four of the last five Seahawks contests have been over that threshold. Seattle has rapidly improved in the last month, winning three of four. This is a toss-up game, but the 12th-man advantage might be just enough to earn that home victory for Seattle in a close affair that won’t go the Giants way this time.

The Pick:

  • Seahawks Moneyline (-162); 1 unit to win 0.62 units
  • Over 44.5 (-112) 1 unit to win 0.89 units

2022 record: 9-10; -1.55 units
