Oh, prop bets. One minute, you’re on top of the world. The next? Teddy Bridgewater decides he’s going to average about 2.3 yards a pass attempt against the lowly Falcons. Let’s just move on.

We’re still up, but boy are the football gods challenging us in Week 9. The Green Bay Packers are down to their fourth and fifth running backs on the depth chart, but that’s still leaps and bounds better than the B squad the San Francisco 49ers are trotting out when these teams clash Thursday night.

Vegas is slow-playing this one, releasing just a few player over/unders late into Wednesday night because of uncertainty over player availability, which was only amplified by another crush of COVID cases, forcing the 49ers to shut down their practice facility.

Other than that, it’s a balmy 76 with clear skies come the 8:20pm kickoff.  Visit our Packers vs 49ers page for all your game betting needs. For now, let’s make some hay with the prop bets below.

Rodgers Ballin’ In the Bay

It’s unfair to put Aaron Rodgers – coming off an ugly loss, no less – onto the field against a 49ers’ defense that is lacking its best cover man in Richard Sherman, pass rusher in Nick Bosa and a whole heap of other regular contributors.

The Niners have hung tough in the ultra-competitive NFC West, ranking an incredible fourth in fewest pass yards allowed. But they should get shredded in this one.

Add to the fact that the Packers’ run game is in flux, with Aaron Jones questionable, and Jamaal Williams and AJ Dillon both out, leaving them with Tyler Ervin and Dexter Williams as their only healthy options, and the Pack should be utilizing their top weapon.

Even in a down week against the Vikings, Rodgers went 27-for-41 for 291 yards and three touchdowns. He’s only been held under two touchdown passes once all season.

The pick: Rodgers OVER 1.5 TD passes (1 unit to win 0.45 units)

Tough Pack of Receivers to Handle

You can’t mention Rodgers without his battery mate, receiver Davante Adams, who has been a man on fire since returning to Green Bay’s lineup.

In three games since being out with a hamstring injury, Adams has 26 catches on 37 targets, 310 yards receiving and five touchdown grabs. Even with Sherman in the 49ers’ lineup, it’s going to be hard to contain him.

While Adams has only passed the longest reception total twice in five games this season, I like the value here, and the fact that he should be able to get to any spot on the field he wants.

Green Bay’s other top target, tight end Robert Tonyan, is coming off a 7-catch, 79-yard showing against the Vikings. Last week featured several plays designed for Adams to suck in the coverage to clear space for Tonyan to work in behind or over the top of him. How is that fair?

I think that trend continues, and has a big game.

The picks:

  • Adams OVER 25.5 yards longest reception (0.5 units for 1.12 units)
  • Tonyan OVER 3.5 receptions (0.5 units for .415 units)

Who Finds Paydirt?

Haven’t hit this one since Week 3, so we’re going to go Captain Obvious here. Adams has five TD catches in his last two games, and you should expect to keep the good times rolling.

And not to leave out the 49ers, I think Jerick McKinnon’s ability as a run-pass option out of the backfield should have him featured a lot in this one. He’s also probably one of only two players you’d recognize on offense, so he should be getting lots of work.

The pick: Adams to score a TD (1 unit to win 0.56 units)
