We had a good Tuesday, which could have been great, if not for Dez Bryant having to sit out shortly before kickoff after testing positive for COVID. Alas, we’ll take the split with plus-earnings and move on.

And do we have a legit good one for Thursday Night, as the suddenly-resurgent New England Patriots (6-6), hit the coast trying to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

They’ll be taking on the NFC West-leading Los Angeles Rams (8-4), who need to keep winning to hold off the Seahawks for the division crown while still chasing the top seed.

It should be clear and 62 degrees come kickoff for this Super Bowl 53 rematch. If you’re looking for game-line action, we’ve got you here. For now, let’s delve into player props below.

Pointing Out The Pivots

When Jared Goff is cooking, he looks like one of the best QB’s in the NFL. But put him under duress, and he looks almost unplayable. In his last five games, he’s gone for over 300 yards passing, but the one where he didn’t — a Week 12 demolition at the hands of the 49ers — Goff was so bad there was talk of him being benched.

There has to be some extra motivation for him and his head coach Sean McVay in this one, though. It was Bill Belichick and the Patriots’ defense that put the vices on them in Super Bowl 53, holding LA to three points all game.

Even with New England playing better, expect McVay to call a better game against a semi-reasonable facsimile of those Patriots, and Goff to execute.

On the other side, Cam Newton is doing his best Tim Tebow impression, basically abandoning the passing game and going super old school running the ball. The Pats churning out 150.4 yards a game, which is third-best in the NFL.

However, the passing game is brutal, and Newton has surpassed this total just three times this season. And he’s coming off back-to-back games where his total passing yardage is 153.

LA isn’t much help here: they’re the top pass defense in the NFL and Aaron Donald is a one-man pocket collapser. I don’t think Newton breaks out Thursday.

The picks:

Goff OVER 270.5 yards passing (1 unit to win 1.22 units)

Newton UNDER 185.5 yards passing (1 unit to win 0.81 units)

Work With Woods

The strength of the Patriots’ defense is with their secondary, fronted by top corner Stephon Gilmore and supported by JC Jackson on the other end. But that shouldn’t stop Woods from getting involved in the passing game.

He works all over the field, and should get free on crossing routes, regardless who’s covering him. He’s gone for 80 or more yards receiving in four of his last five starts, and he’s broken the total in seven of 12 games this season.

If you’re feeling extra frisky, sprinkle some on longest completion — the Rams love to start fast at home, and that usually features a few passes to Woods to stretch the defense — you may hit that wager in the first quarter.

The pick: Woods OVER 60.5 yards receiving (0.5 units to win 0.445 units)

Who Finds Paydirt?

Let’s not get too cute here: Newton is a touchdown machine and a goal line terror. He’s got 11 rushing touchdowns this season, including four games with multiple scores. He’s also been productive away from home, punching it in at least once in four of his last five road games.

After catching 10 TD’s a year ago, Cooper Kupp has just two on the season, including eight straight scoreless outings. The value here is too good to pass up, as he has scored a touchdown in six of his last seven games in December.

The picks:

Newton to score anytime TD (0.5 units for .445 units)

Kupp to score anytime TD (1 unit for 1.5 units)
