Saints vs Buccaneers Line Movement

Sunday night’s matchup marks the second meeting of the regular season between these divisional rivals. The line has been steady since opening with the Buccaneers pegged as heavy 11.5-point chalk.

The total is also unchanged from its opening position at 45.5. The Saints blew a 16-point lead before rebounding to claim a 36-27 win when they faced Tampa Bay back in Week 8.

That marked the Saints’ sixth straight victory over the Bucs in regular season action, a run that features three straight wins at Raymond James Stadium by wide double-digit margins.

Those decisive wins have contributed to the Saints’ 6-0 ATS run against Tampa Bay. Sunday’s clash also marks the first time that Tampa Bay has been favored by double-digits against the Saints since covering as 13-point home favorites in a 27-13 win back in 2006.

However, the Bucs have dominated in four outings this season as big home chalk, going 4-0 SU and ATS while claiming victory by an average margin of 26.5 points.

New Orleans Saints Outlook

The Saints received a huge boost from the return of rusher Alvin Kamara in last weekend’s win over New York.

Kamara had an immediate impact after being sidelined for four games by a knee injury, rushing for 120 yards and one touchdown, and has now scored in each of his past four outings.

More importantly, the Saints have claimed victory in four of their past five with Kamara in the lineup, and are 6-1 SU this season when he scores.

Taysom Hill failed to find the end zone while racking up just 175 passing yards against the Jets. However, the Saints pivot once again proved key to the team’s ground game while running for 73 yards and two scores.

New Orleans has averaged 178 rushing yards per game over Hill’s past two starts. But duplicating that effort against the Buccaneers’ third ranked rush defence represents a huge challenge.

Complicating matters is the loss of offensive linemen Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk, both of whom will miss Sunday’s contest due to injury.

These teams have so far avoided getting hit hard by the wave of COVID-19 that has hit the NFL and forced the postponement of three Week 15 contests. However, the Saints will be missing head coach Sean Payton, who tested positive earlier this week. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will take over head coaching duties in Payton’s absence.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Outlook

The Bucs were lucky to escape with a 33-27 overtime win after blowing a 24-3 lead in last weekend’s date with the visiting Buffalo Bills. That marked the fourth time in six games that Tampa Bay has surrendered 27 or more points.

However, the Buccaneers’ top-ranked offence has been clicking during the team’s current 4-0 run, averaging 32.8 points per game. The team has also averaged 36.2 points per game during a nine-game home win streak that dates back to Week 14 of last season.

Quarterback Tom Brady continues to defy Father Time by tossing for 363 yards and three TDs while running for a third score in last weekend’s win over Buffalo. The 44-year-old has connected on 22 scoring passes in six home appearances this season.

Brady enters Week 15 as the league leader in both passing yards and TDs, and has emerged as a massive -175 favorite in the NFL MVP odds.
