  • Week 16 begins with a bang when the San Francisco 49ers visit the Tennessee Titans at 8:20 pm ET on Thursday, December 23, 2021
  • Both teams are in the thick of the playoff hunt in the AFC and NFC

Jimmy Garoppolo  and the San Francisco 49ers (8-6) are heading to Nashville, Tennessee to take on the Tennessee Titans (9-5) Thursday night. NFL Network is carrying this one with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 pm ET. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s with no real wind or precipitation concerns whatsoever.

The 49ers are coming into this one as one of the NFL’s hottest teams, winning five of their last six games. They absolutely throttled the Atlanta Falcons 31-13 their last time out. Meanwhile, the Titans are the exact opposite as they have lost three of their last four, which includes a 19-13 setback to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday.

As expected, the 49ers are 3.5-point favorites even though this game is being played at Nissan Stadium. As for the total, that sits at 44.5 but could always move depending on what kind of Covid news comes out. Just like every other NFL game, there are plenty of player props to consider.

Who Else Wants Some of Deebo Samuel?

If you look up the definition of “underrated” in the dictionary you’re likely to find a picture of Deebo Samuel. Even going back to his days at the University of South Carolina, he was never really billed as a future NFL superstar. Slowly but surely, Deebo has made the 49ers look like geniuses for selecting him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The guy runs like a gazelle and hits like a tank. It’s a wonder he wasn’t a first rounder.

It’s not everyday we see a guy with over 1,000 receiving yards on the season get saddled with a receiving yards number in the 40s but here we are.  We’re catching a break on Samuel’s receiving numbers in the props market this week because he’s had a few down weeks in the area. The thing is, he’s actually been playing running back lately so that explains his lack of production in the pass game.

The 49ers have had all kinds of issues at the running back position but they are slowly getting healthy. Trey Sermon is expected to be activated for this game which means San Francisco could be looking at three guys to split carries. Jeff Wilson Jr figures to lead the group along with JaMycal Hasty and Sermon.

The thing is, only two teams in the NFL have held opposing running backs to fewer rushing yards than the Tennessee Titans. While they’ve been good against the run, no team has allowed more receptions to the wide receiver position than they have. If Samuel shifts back to his receiver role even slightly, he’ll fly over his receiving yards total.

  • The Pick: Debo Samuel Over 43.5 Receiving Yards (-110) – Wager 2.2 units to win 2 units
  • SBD 2021 NFL Player Props Record: 28-30, -1.27 Units

A Deep Dive With Jauan Jennings

There are not a lot of things in this world that we have to do but betting a touchdown scorer prop in primetime NFL games is must. I guess you don’t have to but honestly, why wouldn’t you?  You legit can choose almost anyone that will get an offensive snap and there’s nothing like taking a rando to score, then watching him do it.

That guy for Thursday night is Jauan Jennings people.

This is a shot in the dark but not really since Jennings has scored twice in his last four games. The Titans don’t allow many rushing touchdowns so when the 49ers get into the red zone, receivers may be the way to score. On the season only four teams have given up more touchdowns to the position so at +450, maybe Jennings isn’t that crazy of an idea.

  • Pick: Jauan Jennings Anytime TD Scorer (+450) – Wager 1 unit to win 4.5 units
  • SBD 2021 Touchdown Scorer prop record: 21-36, -2.56 units
