The San Francisco 49ers entered top 10 Super Bowl contention this week with a 3-0 start to their 2019 season.

San Francisco’s 2020 Super Bowl Odds averaged +2500 entering Week 3.

Is there any reason to bet the 49ers as Super Bowl winners entering their bye week?

New England Patriots +400
Kansas City Chiefs +550
Los Angeles Rams +750
Dallas Cowboys +1200

The 49ers 24-20 win over the  Steelers in Week 3 wasn’t too surprising since Pittsburgh is winless and dealing with breaking in new quarterback Mason Rudolph.

Still, the victory pushed the 49ers odds up into the top ten as their chances at getting into  the playoffs have increased with the undefeated start.

49ers Surprising Start

San Francisco features a top-five scoring offense and they’re fourth in yards per game. Running back Matt Breida is top ten in rushing while quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is completing 69 percent of his throws.

The 49ers also field the No. 2 defense in yards per game and total interceptions, behind New England. San Francisco also ranks ninth in total scoring defense, and is tied for eighth in sacks with nine.

However, they have only played the Steelers, Bengals, and Buccaneers so far – it will get tougher from here. San Francisco plays the 11th toughest schedule based on 2018 opponent win percentage.

Path to The Postseason

Next, the 49ers play the Cleveland Browns (1-2) Monday, Oct. 7.  A San Francisco win on a nationally televised Monday Night will only push more money on the 49ers.

After the Browns, San Francisco plays the Rams on the road for their first divisional game in Week 6. That will be their first real chance to gauge who they stack up versus the NFC Champions.

It also includes matchups against potential playoff teams in Seattle, Green Bay, Baltimore, New Orleans and Atlanta.

Those November and December games will really determine where San Francisco ranks in the league’s pecking order but their odds might not get better than right now.

Are The 49ers Super Bowl Contenders?

The 49ers Super Bowl average odds were as long as +4500 after Week One and as short as +2167 last week. The bye week comes at a great time as playmakers Tevin Coleman and Jalen Hurd could return from injury bringing more offensive depth. Nick Bosa also gains a week to recover from an ankle injury listed on the Week 3 injury report.

Still, it remains to be seen if the 49ers are a real contender for Super Bowl 54. Either way, San Francisco can still be a valuable play now if you believe they maintain their early success all season.
