The flip-flopping in point spread odds for the Week 6 game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints continued on Tuesday.
The spread has been moving back and forth, but the latest odds have set the Jaguars as the 1-point favorites for Sunday’s matchup in Jacksonville.
For now, at least.
Will the spread finally settle in Jacksonville’s favor or will we see more movement leading up to kickoff?
Here’s a look at the Jacksonville Jaguars vs New Orleans Saints odds and stats as well as a glance at what the best bet is for the Week 6 matchup.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New Orleans Saints Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total Points |
---|---|---|---|
New Orleans Saints | +1 (-110) | Even | O 44.5 (-110) |
Jacksonville Jaguars | -1 (-110) | -120 | U 44.5 (-110) |
*Odds taken on 10/09/19
Jacksonville initially opened as the 1.5-point favorites when the odds were released on Monday. But the odds moved to Even and then to a Saints 1-point edge on the spread. And then, the odds moved back in Jacksonville’s favor later Tuesday afternoon.
What is causing the spread to fluctuate so much?
While sportsbooks have gone back and forth in determining a favorite, the Saints are 4-1 on the season and are 3-2 against the spread heading into their Week 6 matchup against the Jags.
Teddy Bridgewater Has Won Last Three Starts
Backup QB Teddy Bridgewater has answered the call offensively for the Saints, winning all three of his starts since taking over for the injured Drew Brees. Bridgewater has completed 85 of 121 pass attempts for 849 yards and six touchdowns.
The Jaguars entered the season with high expectations on defense, but the club has allowed the seventh most yards after five games. Jacksonville is averaging 136.6 rushing yards against, which is the eighth highest heading into Week 6.
It’s an area Saints running back Alvin Kamara will look to take advantage of. Through five games this season, Kamara has 342 rushing yards with two touchdowns.

Jaguars 3-2 Against the Spread This Season
Jacksonville currently sits second in the AFC South with a 2-3 record and will likely need a win against the Saints to keep pace with the Texans and Colts for the division lead. It’s important to note that the Jaguars have covered in three of their five games to date and hold a 1-1 record ATS at TIAA Bank Field.
The head-to-head matchup between these two clubs heavily favors the Saints, who are 3-0 against the Jaguars during that stretch dating back to the 2007 season. The last time the Saints and Jags met in the regular season was 2015, when New Orleans covered the spread in a 38-27 victory.
Minshew Leaving Mark Early On
While Bridgewater has been lights out for the Saints, the Jaguars have had their own backup QB dominate over the last few weeks.
Gardner Minshew took over for the injured Nick Foles and has been a stud ever since, throwing for 1,279 yards for nine TD passes and just one interception through five weeks. One of his favorite targets has been DJ Chark Jr., who leads all Jaguar receivers with 485 yards and five touchdowns.
