Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers travel to Philadelphia to duel with the Eagles for the NFC Championship game. Then, the reigning AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals battle the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game for the second straight season. The most likely Super Bowl outcome is Bengals to defeat the Eagles. The least likely outcome is the 49ers to beat the Chiefs.

The Super Bowl odds are slightly favoring the Eagles at +240 to lift the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in six seasons. It’s incredibly tight though, with the Chiefs and Bengals at +270 and the 49ers at +330. What would the odds look like for any possible Super Bowl outcome?

Incredibly Short Super Bowl Lines

If you’re looking at the Conference Championship betting trends for this weekend’s games and think that it’s rare to have both contests so closely lined, you would be right. In fact, it’s incredibly rare for both the AFC and NFC title games to be so close competitively, at least from a gambling perspective.

Philly is a 2.5-point favorite over the 49ers, with both of San Fran’s running backs Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell on the NFL injury report. Deebo Samuel is also questionable, as is Eagles wideout AJ Brown.

The Bengals may be down several offensive linemen, and of course, QB Patrick Mahomes and his high ankle sprain is a question mark for KC. If you’re feeling strongly about any team’s chances of lifting the Lombardi Trophy, now would be the time to place a wager on them – for example, say the Eagles smash a potentially undermanned 49ers squad and Patrick Mahomes doesn’t look as sharp as he normally does, due to being hobbled. That line for Philadelphia won’t see them as a 1-point favorite should that occur.

Super Bowl Spreads Matchup Best Bet

A tasty Super Bowl meal might be on the horizon, should the Chiefs and Eagles both advance to Super Bowl LVII. It would pit Andy Reid’s new team up against the team he coached from 1999-2012. The Eagles and their explosive offense could figure out a way to attack the stout 49ers D. Rookie QB Brock Purdy might not have either running back at full health, and he’s up against history. There have been four first-year quarterbacks to play in a conference championship game – none of them have emerged victorious.

In his career, the Bengals have been the bugaboo for Patrick Mahomes and company, as they’ve lost all three times, including the AFC Championship game last year. To win it all, they’ll have to defeat history also, as only three teams have followed up a Super Bowl loss with a title in the very next season.

The line for the Bengals-Chiefs game has been swaying all week, with KC the initial favorite, but that swung to Cincy when Mahomes’ status was unclear. Now the Chiefs are slight favorites again. Should they win, they’ll be an underdog in the final contest, which is good to jump on now. If the 49ers pull the upset, KC will certainly be a strong favorite to defeat them in the Super Bowl for the second time in four seasons.

The Pick: Chiefs def. Eagles +1 (-110)
