  • It is Week 4 of the new NFL season and there are some big names on the injured list
  • New England Patriots QB Mac Jones (ankle) is out
  • Below, see the names on the NFL Week 4 injury report and inactives

On the NFL Week 4 injury list, Brian Hoyer will be starting at quarterback for the New England Patriots in place of starter Mac Jones (high ankle sprain). However, as he’s facing the Green Bay Packers on the road, Hoyer may be struggling to find any downfield targets.

Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Myers (knee) will again be out of the lineup in Week 4. Meanwhile, the Packers are getting healthier. Tackles David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, running back AJ Dillon and wide receiver Allen Lazard no longer have a designation on the Green Bay injury list. As 9.5-point favorites, the Packers are owners of the longest Week 4 spread in the NFL odds.

With Jones out and the status of Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa’s status uncertain following a frightening head injury during the Dolphins’ TNF loss to Cincinnati, the starting QB crop in the AFC East is growing thin. However, Zach Wilson (knee) is returning from the inactives and will be starting in Week 4 on the road against the Steelers.

It might not be the most enjoyable comeback for Wilson, however. In 11 games at Pittsburgh, the Jets are 1-10 straight up and 3-8 against the spread.

Jones is certainly the biggest name on the NFL Week 4 injury list, but he’s not the only one. The New Orleans Saints played in England against the Minnesota Vikings minus RB Alvin Kamara (ribs) and QB Jameis Winston (back/ankle). The Los Angeles Chargers will be missing QR Keenan Allen (hamstring) for their game against the Houston Texans.

In the marquee matchup of the week – the Buccaneers vs Chiefs odds – sick bay is being cleared out of wide receivers. For Tampa Bay, Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) are expected to play. The Buccaneers are also adding former Buffalo Bills wideout Cole Beasley to their active roster.

Kansas City is reporting that WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (abdomen) is good to go. But the Chiefs will again be without kicker Harrison Butker (ankle).

Let’s take a look at the prominent names on the Week 4 injury report and how it’s impacting the NFL odds.

NFL Week 4 Inactives

The Cleveland Browns will be without DE Myles Garrett. A top contender in the NFL DPOY odds, Garrett (biceps/shoulder) was injured in a car accident earlier this week. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland’s Week 4 opponent, are saying that all-purpose back Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) will be playing.

You might want to load up on Jamaal Williams plays in the Week 4 NFL player props. The Detroit Lions running back figures to get plenty of touches with D’Andre Swift (shoulder) out for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Detroit’s explosive offense will also be without WR Amon-Ra St Brown (ankle) and DJ Chark (ankle).

Two of the NFL’s weakest offenses will be short-handed in the Chicago Bears vs New York Giants clash. Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle/knee) and Giants WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Wan’Dale Robinson (knee) are all out.

The Dallas Cowboys are welcoming back WR Michael Gallup for his first start of the season since offseason knee surgery as they face the Washington Commanders. For the Arizona Cardinals in their game against the Carolina Panthers, WR AJ Brown (hamstring) is out. However, WR Rondale Moore (hamstring) and Marquise Brown (foot) are playing. Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (thigh) is also good to go.
